Netflix released the official trailer for Shadow and Bone and we are still not over all that we saw. In fact, we’re still watching it to try and catch anything we may have missed. We know that there is so much more and the trailer doesn’t even begin to scratch the surface of what we have to look forward to next month.
There were so many amazing moments in the trailer, here are a few of our favorite ones.
Our Sun Summoner, Alina Starkov
This moment from the trailer now lives rent free in our heads. The power that Alina holds in this scene is just breathtaking. Jessie Mei Li is the perfect choice and the combo of her badassery with these special effects is just.. there are no words!
Ben Freaking Barnes
First of all, how good does Ben Barnes look in that black kefta? Second, there is something so magnetic about him as The Darkling, which makes it easy for us to see why Alina falls under his spell. Some people complained we didn’t get enough of him in the trailer but, Netflix couldn’t give us everything, they have to save something for the show and we respect that. All we know is, Ben owns us right now, and we are not ashamed to admit it.
Zoya
The best thing about official trailers is when we get to see those characters we didn’t fully see in the teaser trailers. That’s the case with our precious summoner Zoya. In case you didn’t already know, Zoya is also a badass. She’s got power, and she uses it very well. She’s happens to also be one of our favorites. We only got a short look at what she can do in this trailer, but just you wait.
Kanej
Netflix knows we are desperate for #Kanej content and this little teensy clip is not nearly enough. Seems they believe in the art of delayed gratification. Inej and Kaz are endgame for us and they must be protected at all costs. We are dying for more of these two, so April 23rd needs to just hurry up.
Alllllllll the Crows content
The Crows. We are ALWAYS okay with some good Crow content. We got a little bit of Inej’s knives, Jesper’s charisma and quick-draw skills, plus that moment with all three of them strutting like the powerful team they are.
The Shadow Fold
We got our first look at the shadow fold when Netflix released the teaser trailer for Shadow and Bone. It was terrifying then and it’s still terrifying now. Like we said, the special effects in Shadow and Bone look amazing, we can see why nobody wants to go into the shadow fold. We do love this shot of Ben Barnes as The Darkling standing on the ship with his kefta blowing in the wind.
Darklina
Darklina, Darklina, Darklina. Yes, we ship these two! Are we conflicted about it? Hell yes! Do we really care? Hmmmmm that has yet to be determined. If you have read the Shadow and Bone books, like us, your emotions were all over the place. We suspect the reason for our devotion to these two is partly because we love Ben Barnes, and who could blame us for getting lost in those dark eyes of his.
Baghra
Our beloved Baghra. This woman is so special because she’s the one who teaches Alina how to channel her power to summon the light. She deserves all the credit and we could all use a Baghra in our lives.
Malina
We couldn’t close this out without mentioning Malina. We know there are tons of Malina shippers out there so this is for you. We love Alina and Mal’s relationship too because they would do just about anything for each other. They go through quite a bit together but they’re friendship is unwavering.
