Rebecca Serle is one of my favorite authors and When You Were Mine is one of my favorite books ever. It’s a book that I reread repeatedly (as I do with most of her and Jenny Han books).
And now it’s being made into a movie and honestly, I cried when I found out.
If you aren’t familiar with When You Were Mine (the adaptation is entitled Rosaline), it’s the story of Romeo and Juliet told from Rosaline’s point of view. Only Rosaline is Romeo’s ex, and what starts out with her wanting to win back her ex, becomes about Rosaline’s growth and self discovery and changes to her wanting to get the star-crossed lovers back together.
We always love anything and everything that is a variation or stems from “the most famous love story ever told.”
What’s also exciting about this is that Kaitlyn Dever has been cast in the lead role of Rosaline.
Rosaline was originally at MGM, but when it hit the market 20th Century snapped it up and tapped Karen Maine to direct. Scott Neustadter & Michael H. Weber penned the script for the adaptation.
Have you read When You Were Mine? If not be sure to pick it up and read it. It’s a great book.
