I love vampires, but what I love even more is a good vampire movie or TV show. This is the thing, I am very particular about my vampires. I absolutely hate vampire stories where they are created after a genetic experiment gone wrong, or a global viral outbreak (See Uprising). Those stories are boring and it’s all blood and guts and science experiments, etc. Now, I know some people love those kinds of vampire stories and that’s okay, but it’s not my jam.
The vampire stories I want to see involve some kind of intrigue, with a bit of sexiness, and just the right amount of scary. I guess it’s because I grew up with books like The Vampire Diaries by L.J. Smith, and Anne Rice’s Vampire Chronicles series. You already know we love The Vampire Diaries over here and If you have been following our A-Z Movie Reviews, you know we’ve also reviewed Interview With the Vampire and Queen of the Damned.
Something funny that I have to share is that I had this exact conversation with my sister when the press release for Uprising came out. I went through my whole rant of not wanting another vampire film about science experiment’s and all that. A few hours later I saw one that gave me hope.
Enter upcoming film, The Bride.
The Bride which will star Game of Thrones‘ Nathalie Emmanuel and TRON: Legacy’s Garrett Hedlund, already sounds like something we need.
Here’s what we know so far:
I’ve always had a crush on Garrett Hedlund so I really hope he is the mysterious man doing the courting. I would love to see him play a vampire and if he’s doing it with Nathalie Emmanuel as his leading lady, even better.
The script was written by Blair Butler, and the film is set to be directed by Jessica Thompson. The Bride is being produced through Screen Gems and is looking to start filming at the end of the summer.
