Gloria Calderón Kellett is a genius and that is a hill that we will die on. We loved One Day At A Time and were so upset when it was cancelled, because it was great television.
And we’ve been waiting for something else from her and now that we know what it is – we’re all in. Her new show will be With Love for Amazon. It’s a romantic comedy – which we love. Already on board to lead the series, is Shadowhunters star Emeraude Toubia. And now there are four more added to the cast.
Rome Flynn, Isis King, Todd Grinnell, and Desmond Chiam have all joined the cast of With Love.
The series, With Love, follows, “Lily and Jorge, who are on a mission to find love and purpose. The Diaz siblings cross paths with seemingly unrelated residents during some of the most heightened days of the year — the holidays.”
His hotness, Rome Flynn, will play Santiago Zayas, a modern day Mr. Darcy. You had me at Mr. Darcy. Seriously, can’t wait to see this character come alive.
Isis King will play Sol Perez, a cousin on Lily and Jorge’s Mom’s side. They are a trans non-binary oncology resident who is finally opening up to the prospect of love.
Todd Grinnell is Dr. Miles Murphy and has eyes for Sol. Did we also mention that he’s a reconstructive plastic surgeon?
And then there is Desmond Chiam‘s character Nick Zhao, Jorge’s best friend and roommate. Nick has never taken love seriously and I love a character like that, because their growth and navigating relationships is always entertaining.
All episodes will be written and executive produced by Calderón Kellet, who created One Day at a Time. The series has been fast tracked to debut during the holiday 2021 season.
