A friend asked me a few months back if I like Dolly Parton‘s music and to be honest, I didn’t know a lot of it. I knew a few things, but to me Dolly Parton has always been about the good that she does in the world. I knew more about Dollywood and her giving kids books than I did about the songs that she has sang.
Except like 9 to 5 and I Will Always Love You, because those songs are iconic. Those are ingrained in culture.
However, when Dolly invested her money in helping to make a vaccine for Covid-19, I started to pay more attention. I bought her albums as my way of saying thank you.
Dolly did a recent interview with Absolute Radio and talked about the $1 million donation to Vanderbilt Hospital in Nashville towards COVID-19 research.
“I probably get a lot more credit than I deserve,” Dolly said. “I was happy to be part of that and to be able to try to stop something in its tracks that’s really become such a monster for all of us.”
“I was happy to do that. My heart just kind of leads me into where I’m supposed to go and what I’m supposed to do at the time.” she also added.
Having experienced Covid-19 and having long covid – I am thankful for her. I am thankful for all of the people involved in the making of a vaccine. They all deserve a lot of credit, because it has changed lives.
And saved lives.
And we’re thankful for it.
