Sometimes I see the need for social media and sometimes I think it was invented to make us all cry. It’s a place to meet and connect and build community, but it’s also a place where people feel as if they can say whatever they want when they want.
And that part of social media is bad for anyones mental health.
Actress Sydney Sweeney has been very open about how social media has affected her life. In a recent interview with The Independent, Sweeney said, ““It’s the most unhealthy part of my life. The fact that I am second guessing and having anxiety over posting a picture is sickening.”
I feel that and I am not even famous. I am scared of what people will say. Sweeney is judged on a level that most of us can really never comprehend.
You may remember back in May, Sweeney went live on Instagram after some very cruel comments were made and she trended on Instagram.

“I would never actually do this, like ever, but I think it’s really important for people to see how words actually affect people,” Sydney had said on the live, through tears. “And I know everyone says ‘you can’t read things, you shouldn’t read things,’ but I’m a fucking person.”
Is social media a positive or a negative place for you? Tell us how you feel.
