We’ve got a short break between Star Trek: Lower Decks and Star Trek: Prodigy, but that doesn’t mean we’re slacking off. I was fortunate to join a group of journalists in a roundtable discussion with the cast and showrunners of Star Trek: Prodigy. It was an absolute treat to get to meet them and ask some questions about Prodigy, especially getting to interview my Captain, Kate Mulgrew.
Back in the (Holographic) Captain’s Chair
Outside of playing Captain Kathryn Janeway in Star Trek: Voyager, Kate Mulgrew is probably best known to modern audiences for her role as Red in Orange is the New Black and to retro audiences as Mary Ryan in Ryan’s Hope.
To say that I am ecstatic about having participated in this roundtable might be the understatement of the century. Janeway is my Captain, and even though I had the pleasure of meeting her in person two years ago at Rhode Island Comic Con, I was more than thrilled at the opportunity to interview her.
Take a look at the interview below.
I am so excited that Captain Janeway will be on my screen again this fall. What’s even more exciting is that Prodigy is a Star Trek show that I can share with my niece and nephew. I’m glad that Janeway can be their first captain. Kate’s excitement about being back in Star Trek is palpable, especially because of the hopefulness that is imbued in the world of Trek.
If you’re looking for a positive show that that you can share with the kids in your life, look no further than Star Trek: Prodigy.
Thank you very much to the folks at Paramount and ViacomCBS for inviting Fangirlish to participate in these interviews! A big thank you to Kate Mulgrew for her time and excellent interview presence as well.
Star Trek: Prodigy will premiere on October 28, 2021, on Paramount+.
