This week’s 9-1-1 started out a little rough, but “Past is Prologue” turned out to be a pretty special episode. It focused on love and relationships, and we love that. Especially when it involves Buck finally being in a happy and healthy relationship. Let’s review.
Worst Drivers’ Test Ever
The first 9-1-1 call of the week involved a driving test. Gabi’s obviously very nervous and ends up crushing on Chloe, the instructor. The test starts off very badly as Gabi forgets to turn and babbles on about her life story. The test goes from bad to worse when the ground explodes and the van is surrounded by oil. Also, Chloe was stabbed by her pen and has trouble breathing.
Luckily the 118 arrives on the scene quickly and figures out how to rescue the two girls. Hen, Eddie, and the rest of the crew get Chloe and Gabi out right before the oil erupts and flips the van over. To echo what Hen said, we hope Gabi has insurance. But after this incidence, we wouldn’t blame Gabi if she never wanted to drive again. Hopefully she won’t be scarred for life. And maybe Chloe could give her a few driving tips? They were kind of cute. Besides, if they can survive this, they can probably survive anything.

Childhood Trauma
In the last episode, Taylor started acting strange and that continued in “Past is Prologue.” Buck started to think she was breaking up with him since women tend to disappear on him. For someone as amazing as Buck, he does have a pretty awful track record with women. So we can understand why he thought she was going to dump him. After talking with the rest of the 118, they convince him to actually talk to Taylor (what a concept!) to figure out what’s going on.
Taylor finally opened up to Buck, and we were shocked to learn about her dad. How awful would it be to have a dad in prison accused of murdering your mom? Of course, she’s not completely sure he did murder her, but if her dad didn’t kill her mom, then she died by suicide, and she can’t believe that either. We’re really glad that she opened up to Buck, and that he supported her and showed up when she really needed him. We would expect nothing less from him.
And, how cute were Buck and Taylor at the end of the hour? They said they love each other! We’re really looking forward to seeing where this goes. Taylor makes Buck happy, and we love seeing our favorites happy.
Other Thoughts:
- Poor May. She’s definitely going to be scarred for life after what she walked in on at her mom and Bobby’s house.
- We weren’t super crazy about the casino robbery mystery. We didn’t hate it, but it was probably our least favorite part of “Past is Prologue.”
- However, we did like the story with Hen’s mom and her old friend. We’re glad that Toni changed her mind and decided to meet Clive. It’s never to late for happiness.
Next week is the winter finale, and the Christmas episode. While we’re sad the show is going on break for a while, we’re very excited about the holiday episode (we love Christmas shows and movies around here!) We hope there’s some excitement and happiness… and maybe a return of Chim and/or Maddie? We can’t wait to find out.
9-1-1 airs Mondays at 8/7c on Fox.
