A new day, a new review! Alex Rider 2×02 “Hunt” shows us how our ties with the people we love are the key to saving us when everything gets too dark. Time for a review!
Here we go!
Sabina came into Alex’s life to stay…at least for a while. In Alex Rider 2×02 “Hunt” she returns to talk to Alex about everything that happened at the end of the previous episode. Sabina doesn´t know what is happening and she needs answers…and Alex feels that he´s the only one who can get them.
But in addition to this mission, there is something else being born between them. The spark that was created when they met is still there and they both want to do something with it… despite what is happening. But the mission may be what unites them the most… or separates them. Everything will depend on the role of Sabina’s father in everything that is happening.
Although I prefer to see Alex with Kyra, I like that they´re developing this part of him, a much more normal part of his life as a teenager. The life of a spy is complicated and lonely, at the end of the day, it´s the bonds that we create that save us from that loneliness and from losing ourselves in the middle of so many lies.
And that, more than anything, is what Alex Rider 2×02 “Hunt” teaches us. Alex can’t stop thinking about the mission, about solving the mystery, about what his next step should be. But Tom and Jack, especially Tom, are afraid of losing him. Alex has a life as a spy separate from them.
And Tom doesn´t want to lose his best friend, he´s afraid that Alex will move away from him to become a spy. Tom almost lost him in Point Blanc and now that Alex is much more involved in that world, he´s in danger of losing himself in it and ceasing to be Alex, his best friend, to becoming Alex, the international spy.
But Alex will never leave him behind. He has to do this, he has to unravel this web of lies and long-buried secrets, but that doesn’t mean that he forgets who he is or that he turns away from them. You never forget your family. And spies also have Friend(s).
So that’s right where Alex goes in Alex Rider 2×02 “Hunt,” to visit some old friends. And I love the way they help Alex. They may not want to know anything about MI6 but they know that Alex is a good guy and if he needs help, they are willing to help him.
I always thought so, but after Alex Rider 2×02 “Hunt” I say it: Mrs. Jones for President! I mean, her boss doesn’t believe Alex and treats him like he’s crazy. Alex is a teenager, but he wasn’t that crazy when he was interested in Alex helping them out at Point Blanc. That is, for him, Alex and his word had value while he was useful but now that he is no longer useful, the boss simply tells Alex to get involved in his affairs.
Alex is indeed having a hard time because he cannot forget what happened at Point Blanc but that doesn´t mean that his instincts are failing. MI6 should trust their agents because Alex, like it or not, is their agent, they got him into this. They made him discover this part of him. And, once discovered, it´s a part of him that Alex cannot ignore, he was born for this and Mrs. Jones knows it.
She´s the only one who trusts him… but she can’t do anything. She´s tied hand and foot right now, but we think she won’t be for long. Mrs. Jones will fight for what she believes in.
Just like Alex is doing. MI6 refused to let them work together again and he just can’t ignore the mystery of his past and the part of him that needs to know what’s going on, needs to solve the mystery, so he takes everything into his own hands…with the danger what that implies.
