Time for Alex Rider 2×05 “Threats” review! This episode introduces Kyra as a member of the team and is a turning point in various stories, including the big bad and MI6. Ready?
Here we go!
I think that adding Kyra to the team in Alex Rider 2×05 “Threats” is the best decision this show made. I think Alex needed her and she needed him. Alex can talk to her about Point Blanc in a way that he can’t talk to anyone. She was there and she understands everything. Kyra not only tries to understand it, but she also does.
And Kyra needs this selfless friendship that Alex offers her, the unconditional support of a friend. She needs not feel alone. Kyra never experienced true friendship. Everything in her life was bartering, bargaining and deals but with Alex, Kyra doesn’t need that. They’re friends. So he will help her without asking anything in return. And realizing that is tremendously important to Kyra. It changes everything for her. And I still think Kyra and Alex are perfect for each other.

Not everyone is as happy as Alex with Kyra’s appearance and her inclusion in the team. Tom feels jealous…and a little threatened. Tom has been friends with Alex since childhood and now he feels that Alex is becoming more and more distant from him and that people like Kyra are in a way closer to Alex than he is right now.
Alex became involved in a world of spies, missions, and dangers. Tom doesn’t know exactly when Alex stopped just being his friend to being something else. But it happened and now he is afraid that he will not fit into Alex’s new world. So for Tom, Kyra’s appearance is like a constant reminder that Alex will leave him behind at some point along the way. And he’s so scared…that he doesn’t want her there.
So Tom makes it clear to Kyra that the position as Alex’s friend is already taken and the position as Alex’s girlfriend is already filled, so she has nothing to do with Alex’s life. She gets the message and feels bad about it. Tom doesn’t know it, but Kyra never felt welcomed somewhere, she never felt accepted and Alex’s friendship makes her feel just like that, Tom “rejecting” her, is a very hard blow for Kyra.

Kyra won’t let Tom or anyone notice but he hurts her and made her envious of the bond between Tom and Alex. Kyra wondered what it would be like to feel this loved and accepted. And we want to hold her very tight and tell her that she is right where she should be.
We haven’t discussed anything so far but we like the flirtation between Jack and her partner. We think they’re a perfect fit and the fact that they’re rivals adds some spice to all the stuff.
We should also mention Jack’s change of attitude towards Alex in Alex Rider 2×05 “Threats.” She didn’t want him to get involved again with MI6, missions, Damien…but Jack understood that Alex simply cannot ignore that part of him, he cannot stop being who he is and must go his own way, even if it is not the one she would prefer for him. So because Jack loves Alex like a son, she lets him go into danger. She lets Alex go to his destiny.

Sabina begins to investigate in Alex Rider 2×05 “Threats.” And someone already began to open her eyes about Alex and her father. At this moment, she’s still confused but her mind is clearing and she begins to see the truth…even if she doesn’t want to believe it. Will Sabina get close to Alex again?
We can’t stand Blunt for a while but in Alex Rider 2×05 “Threats” we wanted to shake him out of sheer frustration. It seems as if now Blunt thinks that Alex is a child who doesn’t know what he’s talking about or is prepared to face great threats when Blunt was the one who recruited Alex for the Point Blanc mission and Alex showed him that he was born for that life.
But after that mission, for Blunt, it’s like Alex has become part of the past and is not even willing to listen. We mean, Blunt just had to apologize to Alex because he just verified that what Alex told him was true and now Blunt is making the same mistake. Wouldn’t it be easier for Blunt to listen to Alex and trust him? But he’s sure that Alex is wrong.
Too sure.
So we think there are only two options: Blunt is a real idiot or Blunt is an idiot and also Damien’s ally. What do you think? Whatever it is, I love that Alex makes it clear to Blunt that he became his enemy and taunts him to his face.

As Blunt’s counterpart, we have Mrs. Jones. She knows that everything is a hoax from the beginning, but she also knows that Alex is right. And she’s willing to challenge whoever it takes to do the right thing. We’re here for this!
