I know very few people that like the heat so much that they are willing to deal with it, without the comfort of air conditioning. You don’t even want to talk to me during the summer if it’s hot and humid. I will tear anyone apart for anything when I am hot.
Emily is better than I am at a lot of things at me, but dealing with the heat. Well she’s better at that too. She seems to be a little annoyed, but mostly just hot and humid and on the search for air conditioning.
Look, I know that Europe is different than America and an air conditioning unit is not normal. Mindy says that she’s gonna try to get a fan, but I have a feeling that will be like searching for a needle in a haystack. Doesn’t mean she shouldn’t search though.
Emily leaves early for work, hoping that they have air conditioning. On the way she runs into Gabriel, who looks so damn sexy in his top, I wondered is he hot, is it the pandemic, do I just need human touch? But this isn’t about me – it’s about Emily.
Gabriel is being an over achiever and switching the menu everyday. I get it, he’s launching a restaurant and has to keep it fresh and edgy, but like dude… can you slow down? Some of us want to feel accomplishment by putting on our pants.
Don’t judge, it’s a pandemic in real life and pants are a lot of work.
Luc tells her that it’s so fake and Julien throws his usual petty shade (which not hating on, I wish I had his petty level) when she gets to work. I love the three of them, their friendship, and they way they throw the shade.
Madeline has called Sylvie, who is annoyed by Madeline’s attempt at French. She tries to tell her that they can talk English, but Madeline wants to talk French.
I have to say that I am glad that they are showing Madeline, because I have always wanted a part of Emily’s life back home to be more prevalent in her life in Paris. She’s talked so much about going home, how she’s in Paris for such a short time, and so I would want to know more about her ties to go back home.
Madeline and Emily are excited to talk, especially when Madeline starts talking about a new client, Pelotech. Yes, if you’re thinking it’s an exercise bike, you would be right. Sylvie seems to be so turned off by the thought, which I am not getting, cause most people would love a Peleton and so I am assuming in this fictional world, most people would want a Pelotech.
But that will all come into play later. Everything always comes into play later.
One of the highlights of this season has been Alfie. I love Alfie and I hate that I love Alfie. I need Gabriel and Emily to be together, but I love the way that Alfie is making her more adventurous and embrace living her life. The two get drunk, head to French, shit happens, but the important part is that he invites her over to his apartment for the “air conditioner.”
These two have a chemistry. It’s not the chemistry that Gabriel and Emily have, but there is nothing wrong with Mister Right now. Since Emily is intent on letting Cami and Gabriel be together, which is a mistake, but whatever. Sometimes you have to trip and fall on someone else’s dick to remember why you love the dick you’re trying to push away.
The next morning, Emily leaves wearing Alfie’s jacket, and of course would run into Gabriel on her way home. She makes excuses for the coat and it’s just awkward. But Emily is able to recover, as she always does.
The Pelotech pitch is that day and it seems like all is going to go well, but Emily, she’s texted Alfie a hundred times and he hasn’t responded. I would have freaked the fuck out and been like if this asshole hit it and quit it, I am gonna really make his life in Paris hell.
But it turns out that Alfie’s gonna get her into some shit, because he’s at Gabriels restaurant looking for Emily. That’s just an awkward situation to walk in on. Especially cause Gabriel’s gonna find out that the jacket was Alfies.
And what happens next, I don’t like. When Emily returns Gabriel says to Emily that it’s because of Alfie they can’t be together, right? Not cause she’s leaving. She should tell him no, that’s not it. But she doesn’t think. She tells him that he’s right.
And when Alfie comes out to get his jacket, Gabriel says she’s all yours, as if it’s a last dig to let Emily know he’s hurt and he gets it. She doesn’t try to correct it, she just leaves with Alfie to go get a drink.
“You like me Cooper,” my have brought a smile to my face.
I feel like this just changes everything and I am afraid of what that means.
OTHER THOUGHTS
- Mindy and Benoit at the park is everything that you want for her. She’s happy.
- Benoit finding them a fan – boys a keeper.
- Sylvie and Luc acting like they hate Pelotech is too funny.
- Sylvie taking the Pelotech home is even funnier.
- I was happy to not have to deal with Cami’s manipulation this episode.
Emily In Paris is streaming now on Netflix.
