Several weeks back Passionflix announced that Tyler Cook had been cast to play Jesse Ward in their upcoming adaptation of This Man based on the book by Author Jodi Ellen Malpas. After his casting announcement fans of the popular book series were still wondering who would be playing his leading lady Ava O’Shea.
One thing we can say is Passionflix really does know how to drag out a casting announcement. A week ago, Director and Passionflix founder Tosca Musk posted a sneak peek photo of her chatting it up with the actress set to play her. Now we can finally say we know who will be going toe-to-toe with the stubborn Mr. Ward.
Kristy Dawn Dinsmore who you may know as Amma from the series Vikings has been cast as Ava O’Shea. We think she’s gorgeous and really does fit the description of Ava’s character. Now, we know that some people are already a little upset that both she and Tyler have been cast and are not British actors.
We understand that people would have liked to see British actors cast to play British roles but, we believe in giving people a chance. Actors can do accents you know? Jodi Ellen Malpas and Tosca Musk are well aware that these characters mean a lot to the readers, so we have no doubt that they took the fans into consideration with this casting process.
As we previously mentioned in our piece about Tyler Cooks casting, both Jesse and Ava are VERY, and we do mean VERY challenging characters to play. They go through a lot of stuff throughout the series so whoever took on these roles had to be truly prepared for it. That being said, this was probably a really thoughtful casting process filled with conversations about what the roles would entail. We think Tyler and Kristy are up to the challenge and we say give them a chance before passing judgement.
