June 17, 2022. Save the date! Netflix announced that it’s when Chris Hemsworth‘s new adventure called Spiderhead, an interesting trailer based on The New Yorker short story, “Escape From Spiderhead” by George Saunders, will hit our screens. And we have the first look! Do you want to take a look?
What is Spiderhead about?
In a state-of-the-art penitentiary run by brilliant visionary Steve Abnesti (Chris Hemsworth), inmates wear a surgically attached device that administers dosages of mind-altering drugs in exchange for commuted sentences. There are no bars, no cells, or orange jumpsuits. In Spiderhead, incarcerated volunteers are free to be themselves. Until they’re not. At times, they’re a better version.
Need to lighten up? There’s a drug for that. At a loss for words? There’s a drug for that, too. But when two subjects, Jeff (Miles Teller) and Lizzy (Jurnee Smollett), form a connection, their path to redemption takes a twistier turn, as Abnesti’s experiments start to push the limits of free will altogether.
Based on The New Yorker short story by George Saunders, the film is a genre-bending and darkly funny psychological thriller directed by Joseph Kosinski (TRON: Legacy, Top Gun: Maverick) and written by Rhett Reese & Paul Wernick (Deadpool, Zombieland).
Spiderhead definitely sounds like something that is going to stick in our minds long after the movie is over. It’s as disturbing and attractive.
As producers of this innovative story are names such as Eric Newman, p.g.a; Chris Hemsworth; Rhett Reese; Paul Wernick; Agnes Chu; Geneva Wassermann; Tommy Harper, p.g.a.; Jeremy Steckler. And, along with Chris Hemsworth, the stars Miles Teller, Jurnee Smollett, Mark Paguio, and Tess Haubrich are in charge of giving the film the chef’s kiss.
And now, it’s time to see Spiderhead‘s first look!
Any theory? The pics don’t show much but one thing is for sure, we’re sold! And you?
