When you are a fan of Taylor Swift, you learn to pay attention to anything everything. There are always clues, at least it always feels like there are. Though we are definitely not complaining.
We’re maybe overthinking everything, but it’s good to know we’re not the only one.
On May 30th, Rachel tweeted, “listen up….. can y’all grow restfully? are you becoming an individual resting decisively?”
The first letter of each of those words spells out, Lucy Gray Baird, one of the tributes in district 12 and one of the characters in the prequel.
The Ballad Of Songbirds and Snakes logline is, “Years before he would become the tyrannical President of Panem, 18-year-old Coriolanus Snow is the last hope for his fading lineage, a once-proud family that has fallen from grace in a post-war Capitol. With the 10th annual Hunger Games fast approaching, the young Snow is alarmed when he is assigned to mentor Lucy Gray Baird, the girl tribute from impoverished District 12. But, after Lucy Gray commands all of Panem’s attention by defiantly singing during the reaping ceremony, Snow thinks he might be able to turn the odds in their favor. Uniting their instincts for showmanship and newfound political savvy, Snow and Lucy’s race against time to survive will ultimately reveal who is a songbird, and who is a snake.”
Lucy Gray Baird is a very important character. And we think Rachel will do a great job with the role.
Now yesterday, we all got confirmation that Rachel has indeed been cast and will be playing Lucy.
“When you read Suzanne’s book, Lucy Gray’s emotional intelligence, physical agility, and fiercely powerful, determined singing voice shine through. Rachel embodies all of those skills — she is the perfect choice for our Lucy Gray,” Nathan Kahane, president, Lionsgate Motion Picture Group, said in a statement.
The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes is set to be in theaters on November 17, 2023.
Are you excited for The Hunger Games prequel? If you could see a prequel of any franchise what would it be?
