Uma Thurman and Henry Golding are set to join The Old Guard 2 according to Variety. And honestly, it’s like the casting gods looked into someone’s fanfiction ideas for the sequel and went, “Hmmmm how can we make this movie hotter and more a bisexual awakening?” The answer is by adding Thurman and Golding, whose roles have not been disclosed but who have had experience in taking on action scenes like the ones in The Old Guard.
The first movie told the story of a group of immortals and their mission to survive in an ever-evolving world that draws them nearer and nearer to being discovered. They are skilled warriors from various corners of the world, and the bond they form over the centuries is unshakeable. Or seemingly unshakable. And when we enter into this Netflix adventure, a new immortal is discovered and taken into the fold as the world draws closer and closer to their door.
Charlize Theron, KiKi Layne, Matthias Schoenaerts, Marwan Kenzari, Luca Marinelli, Veronica Ngo, and Chiwetel Ejiofor will be returning to the sequel. And Greg Rucka, the original creator of the graphic novel these movies are based on, will be doing the screenplay. He will be joined by Leandro Fernández. Victoria Mahoney will be taking over Gina Prince-Bythewood, who is going to be a producer and still have a presence in the sequel movie.
The Old Guard is available on Netflix.
