When it comes to Elvis, I think that we can all agree that Austin Butler looks like he’s going to be amazing as The King. That, along with the Presley family saying that he has done an amazing job in the role, we know that we’re in for a real treat watching the movie.
As the stars have been making the rounds doing press, one thing that has been brought up a lot is that Austin changed his voice to play Elvis and that well… he still sounds that way.
We have to admit, we don’t disagree, but we also don’t have a problem with it. We love us some Austin Butler.
The actor addressed the talk about his voice and the way it sounds.
“I hear that a lot, but I didn’t do anything else for two years [apart from working on Elvis], that’s such a large chunk of life. I’m not surprised that it clicks in,” Austin said when talking to Elle Australia.
He continued, “Because I’m a shy person, and when I know that there’s bits of Elvis that I’d have to click into in order to go out on stage and be in front of a ton of people, being surrounded by his name everywhere, there’s triggers.}
“You spend so much time obsessing about one thing, and it really is like muscular habits, your mouth can change. Its pretty amazing. I know that I’m constantly changing. Check in with me in 20 years when I’ve played a lot of roles, who knows what I’ll sound like!”
We can see it – played the part for two years, it’s a part of him. Hell, our accents come out at weird times, so we’re not even judging.
