Are we spending Valentine’s Day at your place or mine? Although, honestly, I’ll probably spend it sitting on my couch, with a box of chocolates, and watching romantic comedies on Netflix like Your Place or Mine from the queen, the diva, and the goddess Reese Witherspoon. Do you want to join us?
Here we go!
Reese Witherspoon is paired with Ashton Kutcher in Your Place or Mine, a new romantic comedy that will make for perfect viewing material for our Netflix-and-chill date. Conveniently, it drops just in time for the love-centric holiday on Feb. 10.
Your Place or Mine tells the story of Debbie (Reese) and Peter (Ashton), best friends and total opposites. She craves routine with her son in LA; he thrives on change in NY. When they swap houses and lives for a week they discover what they think they want might not be what they really need.
The film was written and directed by Aline Brosh McKenna, who wrote the iconic The Devil Wears Prada – with Anne Hathaway and Meryl Streep AKA the two other goddesses to whom we pray – and 27 Dresses and co-created Crazy Ex-Girlfriend.
The movie co-stars Jesse Williams, Zoë Chao, Welsey Kimmel, Griffin Matthews, Rachel Bloom, Shiri Appleby, and Vella Lovell, with Tig Notaro and Steve Zahn. Reese is a producer on the film, as is Jason Bateman, Michael Costigan, Lauren Neustadter, and McKenna.
Frankly, Your Place or Mine beat us with Reese Witherspoon because she’s our queen since Legally Blonde. Then she became our particular goddess when she starred in Sweet Home Alabama and Just Like Heaven. Ashton Kutcher is not far behind, What Happens in Vegas is another romantic comedy classic perfect to watch again and again, especially on Valentine’s Day.
During Netflix’s Tudum fan event, Witherspoon and Kutcher took the time to FaceTime each other to announce the special date reveal and also shared who their dream rom-com co-stars would be. The video is fun, fresh, and different. But, in addition, the chemistry between them is felt through the screen. Sparks will fly on Your Place or Mine…in the best way ever!
Your Place or Mine is coming to Netflix on February 10.
