We all know that Scott Lang thinks that Steve Rogers has America’s ass, but just what other thoughts occupies his mind? This fall, we’ll get a better idea.
Marvel announced Thursday (February 2nd) that Lang’s memoir, Look Out for the Little Guy, is being published by Hyperion Avenue and will be released on September 5, 2023. That’s right. A fictional character’s book can be yours to have in real life. The book, which is featured in the upcoming Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania film, will exist outside of the MCU.
Is it a cheesy concept? Perhaps. But it’s from a world of superheroes. Isn’t being weird and ridiculous but so fun and nerdy all at the same time the whole point of such a universe?
As though it weren’t genius enough of a marketing gimmick to take the book outside of the Marvel multiverse, the news article even included a quote from Lang, himself, as though it’s a press release with his own official statement:
“Once upon a time I was just a guy living a normal life who committed a crime (for the greater good!), unfortunately, went away for a couple of years, got out and became a Super Hero, joined the Avengers, went down to the Quantum Realm, and then came back and saved the universe. You know, typical dad stuff.”
That also includes the following, making it feel like he’s definitely breaking the 4th wall in a way that only he can:
“Dive into the pages of my new book, Look Out for the Little Guy, to read all about what it’s like to be the little guy (and sometimes, the very, very big guy) overcoming all the odds to help defeat Thanos.”
And the cheesy dedication to boot:
“Shop Look Out for the Little Guy wherever books are sold, and to my two favorite partners, Hope and Cassie, this one’s for you!”

One of the things that typically make superheroes so appealing is that they’re — more often than not — quite literally super, possessing powers that everyday people can only dream to have. We’re amazed by their differences and abilities. Lang, however, is one of the most regular people to be a superhero in the MCU. And it’s a good thing.
Sure, he’s very intelligent — he was an electrical engineer, after all. But beyond that, he’s just a normal guy who has made mistakes, knows he’s not perfect, but loves his family, can do magic tricks, and also geeks out over superheroes. Lang’s relatability is what makes him so likable. (The fact he’s played by Paul Rudd helps, too, though.)
This is why he, of all characters, is a perfect choice to have a book for Marvel fans to consume. (We’ll gladly take more in-universe media from other characters in the future, though.)
The memoir will feature 20 short pieces that cover a variety of Lang’s life experiences, from being Ant-Man to being a dad. It will also include a “bracingly honest account of his struggles and triumphs, including the official account of what really happened between The Avengers and Thanos.”
Hopefully, it has an entire section of him gushing over Captain America, too.
Look Out for the Little Guy is available for preorder now. Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania is in theaters on February 17, 2023.
