Chicago Fire 11×18 “Danger Is All Around” marks the long-awaited return of Jesse Spencer’s Matt Casey, and he still fits in with Firehouse 51 as if he’d never left – or as if he could return tomorrow. It’s a fun, emotional episode, one that hits all the right Chicago Fire notes, despite the rather large absence of Taylor Kinney’s Kelly Severide, who always feels like he should be wherever Matt Casey is.
And if the episode makes us dream about Casey and Severide being together again on our TV screens sometime soon, well, what’s that thing they say about hope? Something about it being the last thing you lose?
We’re fine hanging on, even if it might seem like a dream right now.
Here are some teases for Chicago Fire 11×18 “Danger Is All Around”:

- Having Matt Casey back is a real treat – for us the viewers, Stella, and for Firehouse 51 in general.
- But some reunions might be a little more awkward and emotional than others. That might sound obvious, but it doesn’t make it any less uncomfortable.
- You’ll find yourself rooting for Tony in this episode. And for Gallo. Especially for Gallo.
- Okay, maybe even Carver too, though you might also side-eye him. Typical Carver stuff.
- It’s easier to process it now because at least now Carver feels like he truly belongs at 51. Yeah, I’m surprised too.
- Does Matt get the most emotional moment of the episode or does Gallo? The jury’s out.
- No, actually, it’s not. It’s pretty clear-cut.
- Yeah, that’s gonna be a thing. The writing is on the wall.
- Stella Kidd is a good friend. So is Violet Mikami.
- The fact that we don’t get a specific answer to one thing is suspect, I’ll say that.
- And that lie is more telling than the truth would be.
- It’s hard to know what exactly this show envisions for Brettsey – or if the show even envisions a future, but this episode does give a clear idea of where the characters – and the show – stand right now.
- This episode feels very much like set up for the season finale, which is not concerning at all, nah. It’s not like the show likes to leave us hanging during hiatus or anything.

“Hope is a good thing, maybe the best of things. And no good thing ever dies.” –The Shawshank Redemption This is what they say about hope.
I love Matt Casey. I hope the writers let Brett and Matt get back together.
I also love Matt Casey and hope that Brettsey will pick up where they left off.
Love Jesse Spencer & Matt Casey. Both the actor & character are missed. The show is not the same without them. I just hope Matt Casey & Sylvie Brett will find their way back to each other.
