This week’s 9-1-1: Lone Star was heartbreaking. “Donors” focused on taking down an illegal kidney donation. Grace and Carlos impressed us so much by how hard they fought in this episode to get justice for the victim and to find the people responsible for this black market transplant operation.

Illegal Organ Operations
“Donors” begins with the 126 responding to an accident. But Tommy, TK, and Nancy quickly learn that this is just not a normal accident. The patient, Clint, is under anesthesia and just received a kidney transplant. And to make things more interesting, Clint was able to knock TK out and escape even though he was under anesthesia. Wow. He left TK with a bit of a shiner, too. Tommy knows they need to find this guy, but more importantly, they need to find out where the kidney came from.
It doesn’t take long to learn that the kidney came from Lexi, who calls Grace. She was ripped open, her kidney stolen, and then put into a tub full of ice. What kind of monster does that to someone? Grace was absolutely incredible in these scenes by keeping Lexi calm, but she was deeply affected by this situation. And how could you blame her? She was pretty much brushed off by the detective in charge so she decides to take matters into her own hands to find out who did this to Lexi.

Justice for Lexi
After Lexi’s 9-1-1 call, Grace sets up an online dating profile to see if the man who killed Lexi will message her. Judd doesn’t think this is a good idea. We understand his concerns: online dating is scary enough even when you’re not trying to match with someone involved with stealing organs. But this situation is personal for Grace. She feels like if Lexi was white, then everyone would know about her already. But that’s not the case. She needs to help people that look like Lexi. People who look like Charlie. So while Judd’s worried, he understands why she’s doing this.
Eventually, she gets a message from Mike, the guy she’s been looking for. Grace meets him at a bar and manages to take him down. She switched the drinks that Mike bought for them so basically he roofied himself. Grace is always our hero, but especially this week. But Grace, in the future, can you try not to meet strangers in a bar unless you have backup? You really scared us.
Carlos played a huge part in this case by getting Detective Wilson involved. We like her. She may be tough, but it’s obvious she truly cares about helping people. She’s one of the good ones. And after her speech to Carlos about how he can still help his community even if he’s a detective instead of an officer, makes us wonder if Carlos will take the detective exam soon. We think he should. He would make a great detective, and the world needs more good police like him.

The Strands
The other story this week revolved about TK and Carlos meeting TK’s uncle (Chad Lowe) for the first time. It seemed like everything was going well. Everyone had a nice dinner and TK and Owen are excited to have new family members. But we should have known there was something else going on.
At the end of the episode, Robert tells Owen that he has Huntington’s disease, and he also shares that their dad had it, too. So time is precious for Robert and he wants to spend as much time with family as he can. His news was so awful to hear especially after all of the other tragic events in this episode. Huntington’s is such a horrible disease, and we feel awful for Robert, and for Owen. Not only is Owen going to lose someone he cares about, but because he could possible have Huntington’s, too, right? If it’s genetic, that means Owen and TK are at risk to have this disease. We don’t think we’re emotionally prepared for this.

Other Thoughts
- We appreciate Judd standing up for Grace with Detective McGregor especially after he told Grace to stick to answering phones. Grace knew what she was doing, and she deserved more respect than what she got from McGregor. We love that Judd will always support his wife and have her back with any situation. Their marriage is the best.
- 9-1-1: Lone Star was renewed this week by Fox! So that means we have another season of the 126 to look forward to.
