Netflix is really getting us even more hype for their adaptation of Noelle Stevenson’s comic book Nimona with a new clip titled “Promise You Won’t Freak Out.”
For those not familiar, Nimona takes place in a futuristic medieval world. And when Ballister Boldheart, played by Riz Ahmed, gets framed for a crime he teams up with the most unlikely of allies to prove his innocence. That ally is Nimona. She’s a shapeshifting teenage disaster played by Chloë Grace Moretz. Oh, and she’s also the exact kind of creature that Ballister has been trained to kill.
What follows is a wild adventure where Nimona transforms into a whale, dragon, rhino, and so many other creatures while being adorably pink. And this new clip gives us that first meeting and shows us the true power of this chaotic disaster child. This all happens after they’re trapped in a closet with the guards almost upon them. But thanks to Nimona, they escape and cause loads of destruction.
I already thought that this movie adaptation was going to make me cry because of the found family aspect of it all. Because Ballister is definitely going to adopt Nimona. And this is coming from someone who hasn’t read the comic book, yet. But this new clip just makes us love how much Nimona gives into her instincts and causes as much mayhem as she positively can. It’s kind of liberating, especially in a world where we have to “control ourselves” and “be kind” because we’re women.
Nimona is basically saying “fuck that” in this clip. Let’s cause chaos and show them true power.
