We don’t know who we’re rooting for after seeing the trailer for Fair Play, but we do know that Phoebe Dynevor and Alden Ehrenreich’s characters both have our attention. Judging by this trailer though, we know that we need a lot more of Phoebe Dynevor and Alden Ehrenreich in our lives. The two are staring in the upcoming thrilled, Fair Play, which will debut October 13th on Netflix.
The movie comes from acclaimed (at least by us) director Chloe Domont. It’s a thriller of sorts and it seems like a story that needs to be told. Simply put, the movie is about, “… an unexpected promotion at a cutthroat hedge fund pushes a young couple’s relationship to the brink, threatening to unravel far more than their recent engagement.”
But it’s definitely more complex, as when the woman gets the job, why are all of the men in the office threatened. Why are they making it seem like she had to sleep her way to the top? Why is her fiance so threatened by it?
“Why is it that even today, with all the progress that we’ve made, a man’s success is a win for the relationship, but when it’s the other way around, it feels like a threat? It felt like something that so many of us experience but are afraid to talk about and to confront,” Domont said to Vanity Fair who debuted the first look pictures earlier this week.
We’d like to know the same. Why is it when a woman gets what a man may want, is it a bad thing? Why do we treat it like it’s a dirty thing?
