We’ve been scared of a lot of things that will appear in this season of The Crown. They are approaching a time in the monarchy that was painful for a lot of people. Loosing the people’s Princess still stings (and we didn’t even know her).
We remember Princess Diana as a beacon of light. She always wanted to do amazing things and make a difference in the world.
We think that a lot of people have been fearful of how they will handle Princess Diana’s death. It will only be something that we can only really judge when we see it. But, that all being said, the producers of The Crown know that people are hesitant to how it will be approached.
While at the Edinburgh TV Festival session, producer Suzanne Mackie talked about just that. She said, “The show might be big and noisy, but we’re not. We’re thoughtful people and we’re sensitive people. There were very careful, long conversations about how we were going to do it.”
She knows that in the end, it will be u to the court of public opinion and continued by saying, “The audience will judge it in the end, but I think it’s been delicately, thoughtfully recreated. Elizabeth Debicki is an extraordinary actress and she was so thoughtful and considerate. She loved Diana. There’s a huge amount of respect from us all, I hope that’s evident.”
We hope that it’s evident too. It’s of the utmost importance to us that they handle it with the care and sensitivity that it deserves.
