Repeat after me, people. It is not Christmas. We are not close to Christmas. It’s not the lead-up to it. It’s not even Halloween, for crying out loud. So why in the world are people listening to All I Want For Christmas Is You already? Why is it getting so many Spotify plays? That’s not one of those “we can listen to it anytime” kinda songs. No one’s just casually adding it to their workout playlist, or listening to it as they do chores because they like the music. No, IT IS A SONG ABOUT CHRISTMAS. Just about Christmas.
In fact, it is the song about Christmas. The one we listen when we want to get into the Christmas spirit. And, let me repeat again. It is not Christmas. Or anywhere near close to it.
And look, if there’s anything that can start coming closer, it’s Christmas movies. We get all of those almost too close to Christmas, and we could do with a few more of those. But not in September. And the first weekend in September, even! It’s not even Labor Day, for crying out loud. The NFL season hasn’t even started!! The MLB season hasn’t ended. Don’t let those stores that already pulled out their Christmas stuff drag you into their capitalistic hell filled with sales. Halloween candy is next, not this.
So, please, people, give us a month or two more. Let’s table this talk until after Halloween, okay? Stop listening to the song. Go watch scary stuff or something. We’re begging here. We love Christmas as much as the next person, but it can’t and shouldn’t last 4 months. Part of the magic of it is that it doesn’t, actually.
Even Mariah Carey agrees, and she gets money out of this! Listen to Mariah.
You sound so miserable, let people enjoy things for crying out LOUD! How does it affect you? Oh I know because you’re projecting!
