Season 2 of Netflix’s Sweet Home is closer than you think with the streaming service just dropping their first look at season 2 in a brand new teaser trailer and poster. Even better, Sweet Home is expected to debut on Netflix on December 1st.
Last we left off in season 1 of Sweet Home, Song Kang’s Cha Hyun-Su had distracted the military forces as a means of giving the other Green Home survivors a chance. It was also an opportunity for him to show that he was not the monster or like the other monsters out there. He chooses compassion and he continues to do that in every step that he takes. Too bad for him he ends up being taken in by the special forces in what you know is going to be experiments after experiments to figure out how he hasn’t given in to his dark desires and become a monster. But it’s not what it seems.
Based on what happened at the end of season 1, those very last moments, I thought that Hyun-Su would make it out. The monster that jumps from body to body had jumped into his ally Sang-Wook played by Lee Jin-Wook. But evil like that wants companionship and I thought he was giving Hyun-su another chance to join the dark side. The season 2 teaser trailer shows that Hyun-su is actually trapped. And not just that, someone has been waiting for him. A disembodied voice welcomes him into this large open space where he is covered in blood in what looks like the beginning of some crazy experiment.
As for the rest of the survivors from Green Home, they’re no longer in the confines of their apartment building. They are out there in the world and being out in the open like that means battling unfathomable monsters. But the poster, which shows a stadium, is going to prove to be a respite for these survivors. And that’s confirmed by Netflix where they said, “Survivors have gathered at what is left of the stadium and built a community, but they still cannot let their guard down.” But if there’s anything we’ve learned from season 1 of Sweet Home and World War Z, it’s that monsters can climb. And even stadium walls won’t save you.
Coming into season 2 director Lee Eung-bok consulted with the original webtoon creator Kim Kanbi. Because what’s happening in season 2 on Netflix goes beyond what the original creator intended. Director Lee says, “It is going to be a full-fledged apocalyptic drama. While Season 1 portrayed tension and fear in the confined space of the Green Home, Season 2 will be set in an open space with the introduction of a whole new group of characters and monsters.” Actor Lee Jin-wook also added, “This season will present a world that diverges from the original webtoon. As the world expands, there will be more to think about. And my favorite actor and baddie Lee Si-young said, “A vastly sprawling world awaits the characters after they leave Green Home. Everyone will go through major changes.”
Sweet Home season 2 premieres on December 1st on Netflix.
