When it was announced that Nicholas Alexander Chavez and Cooper Koch had been cast to play Lyle and Erik Menendez in Ryan Murphy’s second season of his Monsters anthology, we wondered who would play the parents, Jose and Kitty Menendez. Well, we now have the answer. Cholë Sevigny has been cast to play Lyle and Erik’s mother, Mary Louise “Kitty” Menendez, and Javier Bardem will play their father, Jose Menendez.
After the success of season one of Monster: The Jeffrey Dahmer Story, Netflix ordered two additional installments of the anthology series from Murphy and Ian Brennan.
Monsters: The Lyle and Erik Menendez Story, which is currently in production, will tell the story of Lyle (Chavez) and Erik Menendez (Koch), who in 1996 were convicted for the murders of their parents. While the brothers maintained that they killed their parents due to years of abuse, both physical and mental, authorities believe it was done to inherit their father’s money.
The official cast announcement video posted by Netflix features a peaceful blue sky with birds chirping and tennis balls being hit, which quickly changes into gunshots as each cast member’s name is listed.

We were already excited about the casting of Chavez and Koch, but seeing Sevigny and Bardem join also makes us even more excited to see this. Sevigny, who this writer loves, has previously worked with Murphy in multiple seasons of American Horror Story and will be starring in season two of Feud, which is set to air at the end of this month. Bardem, who also has an impressive acting resume, is known for No Country for Old Men and Being the Ricardos. Koch, who is a newcomer, is known for his roles in They/Them and Swallowed. Chavez is another newcomer, who I am also a big fan of and stars as Spencer Cassadine on the Soap Opera General Hospital.
Monsters: The Lyle and Erik Menendez Story is executive Produced by Murphy and Brennan along with Alexis Martin Woodall, Eric Kovtun, David McMillan, Louise Shore, and Carl Franklin. There is already buzz going around that season two is going to do very well. That may very well be the case considering that DAHMER, the record-breaking first iteration of Murphy and Brennan’s ‘Monster’ anthology, reached 1 billion view hours in its first 60 days, making it only one of four series to achieve this milestone. No release date has been announced yet, but Monsters: The Lyle and Erik Menendez Story is set to release this year.
