The pandemic will always be a part of all of us. I think that we all remember the isolation, the feelings of loneliness, and the extreme anxiety. It’s something that a lot of people want to move past and not talk about, but I think that all of us need to talk about how we felt and how we still feel.
That’s why I think that it is super important that Taylor Swift spoke about how lonely she’s was during the COVID-19 lockdown. She’s such an influence to people that they take what she says very seriously (myself included). While in Melbourne, the singer admitted that she’d been “lonely” during the lockdown and said before performing, Betty, “[I was] imagining that, instead of being a lonely millennial woman covered in cat hair drinking my weight in white wine, I was a ghostly Victorian lady wandering through the woods with a candle in a candlestick holder.”
She continued, “And I wrote only on parchment with a feathered quill. That was in my mind, what I thought I looked like, writing folklore…So that’s all that matters: the delusion.”
