We watch a lot of TV and movies! And we listen to a lot of music, podcasts, audiobooks…so yeah, we’re fangirling over a lot of things! Each week we come together to highlight all the feels they give us throughout the week. On these Fangirlish Feels of the Week, there are five categories and many thoughts! Ready?
Here we go!
What You’re Fangirling Over This Week
![Josh Folsom (Matt Lauria) in CSI: Vegas Season 3](https://i0.wp.com/fangirlish.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/03/2502417_0950b.jpg?resize=1024%2C683&ssl=1)
Brittany: I’m going to be a broken record here, but the CSI: Vegas episode “Rat Packed” was a wonderful watch, especially after the previous episode struggled quite a bit.
I’ve spoken before about being a fan of the Josh Folsom character, in part because I’ve had the pleasure of following Matt Lauria across a couple of shows and thus I can say I think he’s doing some of his best work as Folsom. But it also gets my nod this week because it cements CSI: Vegas as the anti-procedural.
This show has character and performance depth you don’t see on a network TV crime drama, and this episode was another example of that. If you’re not watching this yet, please get on board, because it’s the breath of fresh air this genre needs.
Rachel: I’m not usually into pure sci-fi like Dune but when Denis Villeneuve is the director and there is a cast like that, then I will watch. And Dune Part 2 is a thrilling example of that genre. It was a pleasure to watch Villeneuve and cinematographer Greig Fraser craft astounding visuals in the movie theater this week. When it comes to entertainment, I am a film lover and that is what this film is: cinema.
Ashley W.: I am never getting over the 17st place trophy that Tim gave Lucy on The Rookie. It was such a sweet gesture that Lucy deserves and shows just how supportive Tim is!
Lizzie: We didn’t get to SEE her, but Daniela Ruah aka Kensi from NCIS: Los Angeles directed this week’s episode of NCIS and though she directed on NCISLA before, it makes me so proud that she got to direct an episode of the mothership and that she’s out there still growing and doing great things. Plus, it was such a fun episode too!
Ashley T.: Mr. Nerdy Blogger and I finished Schitt’s Creek this week. That was a delight! The writing really impressed me, the use of music was very nuanced, and no one made me laugh harder than Moira Rose. Very impressive.
WTF Moment of the Week

Rachel: It’s just a small thing now, I guess, though it will definitely turn into something big if we get more of the Dune story on screen, but I have to say that the sentient unborn baby thing in Dune Part 2 was wild. Then it got even stranger with a flash of her as an adult. (Hello, Anya Taylor-Joy.)
Ashley W.: I know I’m not alone in being upset by where Lucy is ranked on the detective list after taking her exam in The Rookie. She deserves better, and it was heartbreaking to see how her results turned out after how committed she was to doing well — though it admittedly will be interesting to see what’s next for her career now.
Lizzie: F1 started last weekend, and I guess it’s not even WTF that Verstappen won by like 22 seconds, but like…what even is that? Is this a race or a joke?
Ashley T.: A video made the rounds on Twitter this week of the “Meep Meep” Choir from Coyote vs. Acme. It is glorious and beautiful and Warner Bros. shelving the film is the biggest middle finger to this wonderfully silly piece of art. Do yourself a favor and watch it. WTF, David Zaslav.
What We’re Listening to This Week
![New Kids on the Block](https://i0.wp.com/fangirlish.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/03/IMG_1461.jpeg?resize=1024%2C576&ssl=1)
Raquel: I’m creating a playlist on Apple Music so I went through some hits that reminded me of my teenage years and yeah, I definitely included them on my list even though they aren’t the trendiest songs.
Rachel: I’m showing my age here, but New Kids on the Block was beyond huge when I was in elementary school and they just released their latest single, “Kids” this week. (Yes, they’ve been back recording music together for years now.)
And I am eating it up! SO MUCH FUN! Joey, Jordan, and Donnie take the lead most of the time, as usual, but all the guys are clearly enjoying this song and they still sound good to me!
Lizzie: We were all listening to the entire Ressa Tessa tale this week, weren’t we? It wasn’t a podcast, but it was so long it sure felt like one!
Ashley T.: I’m slowly catching up on my podcast backlog this week, in particular Gene-ology, which covers all of Gene Roddenberry’s non-Star Trek works. What’s been particularly interesting is to follow the lines from his earliest work that eventually worked their way into Star Trek. Definitely worth checking out for any Roddenberry completionist.
What We Rewatched This Week

Brittany: I found out that Ryan Reynolds’ Maximum Effort Channel streams reruns of Sports Night at 3 AM. I don’t care that the show is 25 years old; it’s still my favorite TV series of all time — beautifully written, wonderfully acted and it never fails to make me excited about life.
Watching the pilot scene where Ntozake Nelson breaks the world record and that reignites Casey McCall’s passion for sports still makes me teary-eyed. And getting to see the pilot again has a particular resonance for me at the moment, as next week I’ll be in New York actually workshopping a scene from the episode, getting to play the part of Dan Rydell. So this was a wonderful and sentimental surprise for me!
Rachel: I continued my Christopher Nolan rewatch this week with Dunkirk. It is truly incredible how Nolan managed to take a historical event within the war genre and present it in a way that felt uniquely his as a director. The way the editing paced out each storyline so that the resolution was satisfying was amazing. And the huge cast is stuffed with compelling actors of all experience levels.
Amanda W.: As the self-proclaimed Filipino Lara Jean, it should be no surprise To All the Boys I’ve Loved Before is my favorite movie — and my comfort movie — and I can’t remember the last time I watched it, so I was way overdue for a rewatch!
Ashley T.: I finished rewatching Star Trek: Discovery season 4. It’s the first time I’ve rewatched it since it aired. What I appreciate the most about the series is its consistent focus on positive mental health and healthy emotional expression. Also, if you want to see what positive masculinity looks like, the men in this series are fantastic. I’ll be over here counting down the days until the season 5 premiere.
Badass Character of the Week
![Tori Anderson as Kate Whistler on NCIS: Hawai'i.](https://i0.wp.com/fangirlish.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/02/2683735_1296bc.jpg?resize=683%2C1024&ssl=1)
Raquel: This week I was watching a Spanish series based on a novel, titled Reina Roja. And Antonia Scott is a real badass. She dedicates her life to saving others, even though she is falling into a deeper and deeper hole. Fortunately, she found someone to hold on to in the midst of the storm, knowing for sure that he would never let her fall.
Brittany: To bring myself full circle, I have to vote for Josh Folsom from CSI: Vegas as this week’s episode wrapped up (technically) the story arc I’ve loved so much for him. I got genuinely emotional listening to Folsom confess not only everything he did in the Season 2 finale, but why he did it and how it made him feel. That’s because it wasn’t just a mea culpa; it was an internal monologue spilling out.
Matt Lauria did a wonderful job of conveying so much emotion without having to show it, and it was refreshing to have a TV crime drama character who recognized their own faults and is now going to actively work to better them. I’m really excited to see where Folsom goes in the rest of Season 3, because this episode set him up for real growth.
Lizzie: Tori Anderson’s Kate Whistler, because she had to kick ass and save herself, and she did just that. All the while I got an awesome undercover storyline for Kacy. Talk about a great episode of NCIS: Hawai’i!
Ashley T.: After rewatching Star Trek: Discovery season 4 this week, I’m giving it to Captain Michael Burnham. She balances the pressures of captaincy with grace and has proven to be an amazing diplomat. I love her to bits. All hail, Queen Michael.
