Closure. When you think about the word, you can pretty much guarantee that it is something that you are or have looked for. When it comes to FBI, there is one person who is always looking for it. Who? Jubal Valentine. That being said, is closure something that you can ever really find? Or if you get it, is it something that you want?
Essentially that is what episode eight of FBI: International is really about. Closure. Well that and a nasty CIA agent who only cares about getting a cartel and literally wants to drop a bomb on them, not caring what happens to the people in the crossfire.
The Vargas family is in Budapest and Jubal Valentine makes his way there. You may remember that the mans girlfriend was killed by them. For this, it’s his chance to keep his promise to her that he’s going to make sure that someone pays for her death.
Now, in Budapest, The Fly Team is being forced to deal with the cartel by the CIA. See, some cray cray CIA agent is there and she’s like the worst human ever. Look, I know that it’s a cartel and they need to be stopped but like she doesn’t care who it is that she’s going to take down in the process.
And that’s disturbing.
We’ll call her Dr. Evil, because that’s all that I can think of when it comes to her. She’s not telling the fly team the entire truth and she’s putting them in danger. Scott going under cover and Vo running point, I was like girl… if you hurt my favorites, I will cut you.
When it comes to FBI: International, I have never hated anyone as much as I hate Dr. Evil. Do I understand that she is doing what she thinks is best? Yes. But she’s not taking a lot of things into play. Like, for instance – her man that she’s had embedded with the cartel is being iffy and she’s still like well, it’s all good. But she also needs Scott to go under cover in a matter of hours.
Forrester is a team player. He’s going to be there for everyone and he’s going to do his job. So he does go under and he pulls it off. He really just doesn’t give two f***s about consequences. Vo ain’t having that. She does not care. She is going to make sure that her team is safe.
But the thing about making sure that people are okay, it takes more than one person. It takes the people on the other side to also want to do something safe. If we all know one thing, Forrester isn’t always going to do the safe thing. He’s going to do what he considers the right thing.
When the CIA tries to stop the team from being involved and won’t let them make arrests, Forrester isn’t having that. One thing that I do love about Forrester is that his fight for what is right, as well the entire team will fight for him. They will fight for each other.
I think that the team heading to where the weapons are being delivered and then Scott wanting to save the American girl who was the Cartel dudes girlfriend is in the path of the missle him and Jubel go into save her.
The shootout is eminent, but what is even better is that Vo is taking on Dr. Evil. She and Tate look as thought they are going to take her down and if they have to put her on the missle. Like Vo don’t play.
I think it was hard for Vo though, because there was a shootout and she told Smitty and Raines to hold. She said she wasn’t going to loose her whole team. I think that it was a smart choice for Vo to hold them back, but I don’t think that the smart choices are always easy.
That being said, I do believe that Vo is willing to make the hard choices. They may not be popular, but she will do what it takes to fight the good fight. She is willing to make choices and the consequences may be detrimental to others, but the thing is even when they are that way, she’ll take it. And maybe that’s why she’s in charge.
I do think that one thing that has been a downside to this season is that we aren’t seeing enough of Raines or Smitty do their thing. They aren’t background characters – I love them just as much as I love the other characters and I think that it is important to appreciate them and for us to see more of them.
When they finally make their way in and help Jubel and Forrester, I stood up and applauded. I believe in them. I love them. I love this whole team. What we’re seeing is that with the departure of Kellet, and the addition of Tate, we’re seeing a team that just works well together. We’re seeing this team play to their strengths and finding a way that no matter what that is, they will get through.
Now Dr. Evil, eventually did the right thing, though I do believe that she had everyone playing into what she wanted to regardless of what they thought that they were doing. How Vo didn’t kick her behind right of Budapest, I am not sure.
But what I am sure of is that the most important scene in this episode was the ending, where Jubal admits that he doesn’t know if he got closure. He doesn’t know what it was supposed to feel like, but what he’s left with is this feeling he really can’t describe. But he can describe Reyna and what she did and all the feelings she brought out of him.
There’s no shock that he’s never been my favorite, but maybe for the first time I liked him. I liked his vulnerability. I liked the way that he let his guard down and the way that for one time in his life he seemed genuine. Maybe closure the way that he thought he needed, wasn’t the way he needed it after all.
