Welcome to Fangirlish’s official “What to Watch” weekly column! Starting with the week of May 27, every Sunday, we’ll round up the must-watch TV and movies airing in the week ahead. It’s your one-stop shop to make sure you don’t miss any of this week’s hottest releases!
The week of May 27 is one of goodbyes, with several major season finales and series finales. (Suggestion: don’t make plans on Thursday.) But it’s not all about endings! Here’s what should be on your radar in the week ahead.
Thursday, May 30: Star Trek: Discovery Series Finale
![Sonequa Martin-Green as Michael Burnham in Star Trek: Discovery 5x09 "Lagrange Point."](https://i0.wp.com/fangirlish.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/05/dsc-509-06.jpg?resize=1024%2C683&ssl=1)
It’s been a bittersweet spring for Star Trek fans. Strange New Worlds just earned a Season 4 pickup, and Starfleet Academy is in production. But the beloved animated Lower Decks will end with its upcoming fifth season, and this week, Discovery, the show that brought Trek to streaming, is ending. Sophisticated, smart, and heartfelt, Discovery will be very missed.

Thursday, May 30: Hacks Season 3 Finale

After multiple delays, Hacks Season 3 delivered a quirky, occasionally cringey season of comedy. Deborah (Jean Smart) has spent much of the season on a career roller coaster, aiming for a dream job with some bumps along the way. The season finale picks up after she lands the gig — but will things go to plan? With this crew, probably not.
Streaming on Max, 3 am ET/12 am PT

Season 20 (yes, 20!) of ABC’s longest-running primetime series in history comes to a close in the week of May 27. Meredith’s secret research comes to light, while several Grey Sloan doctors have big decisions to make about their next steps. With a shrinking cast next season, anything could happen at this point.

Thursday, May 30: Station 19 Series Finale

After seven seasons, the crew of 19 are signing off for good. Who’s getting their happily-ever-afters, who’s starting over, and whose journeys are just getting started? With two lives hanging in the balance in the penultimate episode, here’s hoping for the wrap-ups these characters deserve — and maybe a few doors left open for guest spots on Grey’s?

Doctor Who has been on a roll this season, thanks to the fantastic pairing of Ncuti Gatwa and Millie Gibson. This week’s episode is one that Gibson has teased as being “quite Black Mirror” and set on an alien world. We’ve seen the silly side of Who this season — time for more of the scary?
