Our obsession with books, fandom, and England is a driving force to why it is that My Oxford Year is about to become our personality. Have we read the book that it’s based on? No. But are we going to read it? Hell yes.
When you cast Purple Hearts star Sofia Carson and Queen Charlotte‘s Corey Mylchreest, consider us there. We’ll be watching. We’ll be stanning. We’ll be paying attention.

The Inbetweeners director Iain Morris will be directing the adaptation of the popular novel of the same name written by Julia Whelan, which was adapted from an original screenplay by Allison Burnett, with current script revisions by Savion Einstein.
Best of all, it’s a Netflix movie, so you know we’ll be getting all the cheesy greatness that they are willing to give us.
According to Deadline the movies premise is, “Anna, an ambitious young American woman who, after setting out for Oxford University to fulfill a childhood dream, has her life completely on track until she meets a charming and clever local who profoundly alters both of their lives.”
So many possibilities of how lives could change and that intrigues us. We’re wondering if we should be surprised by the movie and then read the book? What do you think?
Both Carson and Mylchreest have done a few projects for Netflix. Carson starred in Purple Hearts, which we obsessed over. We have yet to watch her other Netflix property, Carry-on, but we are excited also to see The Life List, which she will topline. Mylchreest starred in Queen Charlotte and also appeared in The Sandman.
We’re definitely excited to see them both in My Oxford Year.
