It feels like just yesterday we were telling you about Hero Fiennes Tiffin’s latest role – being cast to play a young Sherlock Holmes. The series is set to come to life with Guy Ritchie at the helm.
The series, Young Sherlock, is based on Andrew Lane’s eight-book series of the same name and has been ordered by Amazon Prime Video. According to Deadline, Young Sherlock is described as an action-packed origin story of Sir Arthur Conan Doyle’s beloved detective in an explosive reimagining of this iconic character. At age 19, Sherlock Holmes is disgraced, raw, unfiltered, and unformed when he finds himself caught up in a murder mystery at Oxford University, threatening his freedom. Diving into his first-ever case with a wild lack of discipline, Sherlock unravels a globe-trotting conspiracy that will change his life forever.
There has been some additional casting and one name might sound really familiar. Most likely because the actor is fantastic and well, he has the same last name as someone else in this series. The same last name as the lead in the series.
Hero’s uncle – Joseph Fiennes has been added to the cast. Fiennes will be playing Sherlock Holmes father, Silas. Silas is a self made business man and a scientist. Additionally, Natascha McElhone has been cast as Sherlock’s mum Cordelia. Cordelia is described as the matriarch and keeps the Holmes family together.
While we don’t know when, we do know that the eight episode series will premiere on Prime Video when it does come out.
