We find it hard to believe that it’s been 15 years since Countdown to Christmas started, but here we are. With all of the information coming out of Hallmark Media’s session at the Summer 2024 Television Critics Association Press Tour in Pasadena, CA, we know that this years Countdown to Christmas may be the best yet.
Part of that? Well that has to do with Holiday Touchdown: A Chiefs Love Story.
"It's about a Chiefs superfan …but it goes into the soul of what it means to be a fan," Julie Sherman Wolfe says, as she talks about how the movie should resonate with fans of all teams. #Hallmark #TCA24

At the Summer 2024 Television Critics Association Press Tour, additions to the cast were announced. Previously announced and set to star were Tyler Hynes, Hunter King, and Ed Begley. Diedrich Bader (American Housewife), Megyn Price (Rules of Engagement), Richard Riehle (Office Space) and Christine Ebersole (Bob Hearts Abishola), have been added to the cast.
But if you think that the movie won’t have Chiefs staff and players, you would be wrong. Trading in their playbooks for scripts for are Kansas City Chiefs Head Coach Andy Reid, Chiefs Guard Trey Smith, Wide Receiver Mecole Hardman Jr., Running Back Clyde Edwards-Helaire, Defensive End George Karlaftis and other players to be “drafted” later. The movie will also feature a special appearance by Taylen Biggs, Chiefs fan and red carpet correspondent.
My respect for Julie Sherman Wolfe, a 49ers fan, who got the call to write this movie a few days after "the Superbowl that Shall Not Be Named" and thought about "people's love for football" and romance instead of her own angst and go the job done. #Hallmark #TCA24

Hunter King plays Alana Higman, who’s sure that her family’s lifelong history as Kansas City Chiefs superfans makes them a frontrunner to win the team’s “Fan of the Year” contest. Tyler Hynes stars as Derrick, Director of Fan Engagement, who is tasked with evaluating how Alana and her family stack up against the other two finalists. As the pair spends time together, it’s clear there’s a spark between them but when her grandfather’s (Ed Begley Jr.) vintage Chiefs, good luck winter hat goes missing, Alana begins to doubt everything she believed about fate, destiny and even questions her future with Derrick – unless, that is, a little Christmas magic can throw a Hail Mary.
Production for the movie is underway in Kansas City. Are you excited for this movie? Tell us all the things.
Lisa Hamilton Daly calls #HolidayTouchdown our "biggest movie ever." And hey, Andy Reid is going to be in the movie too! #Hallmark #TCA24
