The Mole season 2 has come to a conclusion and we finally know who the saboteur is. It’s Sean. And honestly, I didn’t see it coming. For my suspect rating for episodes 6-8 I did include Sean in our most suspect category. But by that point I was just suspecting everyone and he was only higher by a smaller margin. And in episodes 1-5 he was on my least suspect category. What it really came down to for me is that Sean was too obvious in his subterfuge. Who knew he was actually being honest and fighting for his life as the mole?!
Sean played a good game. After he was revealed to the saboteur, Netflix showed us a video of all the little tidbits he messed up along the way. And looking back, it’s almost too obvious that he was the mole. The first episode, he was a little too clumsy with his projectiles. He was pulling too hard in the last challenge. Oh and that challenge with the pin board of photos they were investigatin? He used that as an actual cover to ACTUALLY mess with the game. It’s messy, brilliant, and really sets this show apart enough where I will be watching season 3.
Then there’s Michael…
I didn’t want Michael to win, if I’m being honest. He felt inauthentic from day one. And it isn’t because he’s gay. I’m queer myself. That didn’t matter to me. What mattered is that Michael felt like an obvious plant who was getting a little bit too much joy from the contestants messing up or losing money in The Mole season 2. Even now, after it was revealed that Sean was the saboteur, I still don’t trust Michael within the context of the game because we as the viewer felt no vulnerability or connection with him.
Muna should’ve won The Mole season 2…
In episodes 1-5 I felt like Muna was my chaotic queen who was subverting expectation of what a woman that looks like her should act. I medium suspected her at the time. And in episodes 6-8 she ended up being my least suspect because she felt authentic and like she was playing a good game. I bonded with Muna as well. She didn’t feel as cookie cutter and two dimension like Michael felt. Instead I loved her tenacity, approach, and dedication. Muna should’ve won season 2 of The Mole.
Overall Thoughts
The Mole season 2 was fun, chaotic, and nothing like I expected. In an endless sea of reality TV, this show stands out because you have to invest in every second so you don’t miss a clue. That makes for a dedicated viewer (like me) who dissects every moment, detail, and wants to share it with others to see what they think. It’s a smart move by Netflix to hook viewers, especially because every streaming service is hustling hard to create memorable reality TV.

I hated every second of this season. Sean was hilariously obvious as the mole it made watching each episode torture. The second he put the photograph of the exact person they needed in his pocket you knew he was the mole. The odds of someone pulling the exact photo of the person they needed to win the challenge was too high. And I agree, Munu should have won. Michael was not likable.
