We’ll be the first to admit we do play favorites when it comes to One Chicago, and Chicago Fire is our favorite. It’s got Stella Kidd. It’s got Stellaride. It’s got Violet Mikami. And it’s got …whatever was going on between Violet and Carver. How are we calling that ship again? But before the news that Jake Lockett has been upped to series regular for Chicago Fire Season 13, we admit we were a little iffy on getting attached.
Now, however? Now we’re feeling pretty good about our choices.
TVLine reports that after two seasons as a recurring character, Lockett will be a regular starting in Season 13. The character of Carver has appeared in 33 episodes so far, so it’s not like he hasn’t been around, particularly considering the last season was shortened by strikes.
Lockett is not the only new series regular for Season 13. Jocelyn Hudon, who plays new paramedic Lyla Novak, has also been upped to series regular for the upcoming season. And of course, there’s the new Chief of Firehouse 51, Dom Pascal, who will be played by Dermot Mulroney. The show has also cast KaDee Strickland to recur as Pascal’s estranged wife Monica.
All in all, that’s a lot of new faces for Season 13. But for us, all that matters is that the faces we know and love aren’t leaving. Oh, and that we can now fully invest in Violet and Carver. Bring on Season 13!
Chicago Fire returns to NBC on September 25th at 9/8c.
After the Upstead debacle, I would not invest in any One Chicago ship.
