If you’re a Ryan Murphy fan like us, you know there is no shortage of programs to watch. Murphy churns out series after series, and we’re not complaining about it. It seems like there is a new one every month or so. All you need to do is look at September; it is chock-full of Murphy’s projects. American Sports Story: Aaron Hernandez premieres on September 17 on Hulu, and Doctor Odyssey premieres on September 26 on ABC. That’s not all, though. We still have Grotesquerie coming later this fall, and the second season of Monsters: The Lyle and Erik Menendez Brothers Story releases later this year. With so many projects coming, we’re surprised there is yet another one in the works. That’s right; Murphy is coming to our screens with his new legal series All’s Fair.
For those unfamiliar with this newest project, All’s Fair is set at a Los Angeles all-female law firm. According to Deadline, Murphy describes it as “a high-end, glossy and sexy adult procedural.” Listen, you had us at “all-female.” Because who runs the world? Girls! The series is currently in the pre-production stages, with the cast being put together. At the start of this project, we learned that Kim Kardashian, executive producing alongside Murphy, will also lead the series. Now, I will be honest; I am not a big fan of Kim K’s acting. Some of her roles feel too much like her, just a more over-the-top magnified version. I’d like to see her play something meatier that goes against type, so I hope this will be that way and show me a different side. If it doesn’t, quite a few ladies I love are still attached to this project.
Previously, it was announced that Glenn Close and Halle Berry had joined the cast. However, Berry had to drop out due to scheduling. That was a bit of a bummer because I love her and would have enjoyed seeing her in a Murphy project. Some more casting announcements have dropped, and I could not be more excited. Sarah Paulson, Niecy Nash, Naomi Watts, and Teyana Taylor have been added to the cast. Paulson, Nash, and Watts have worked with Murphy on various projects over the years. Paulson, of course, has starred in multiple seasons of American Horror Story. Nash was in Monster Season One, which focused on serial killer Jeffrey Dahmer, and Watts recently starred in Feud: Capote Vs. The Swans. This is Taylor’s first Murphy project, but she has received a lot of praise for her performance in A Thousand and One.
As is the standard for a Ryan Murphy project, the details of the plot and who each of these ladies will play in All’s Fair are under wraps. So far, all we know is that Kardashian will play the high-profile divorce lawyer at the law firm headed by Close’s character. But when we get more details, we will share them here because we can’t wait to find out ourselves. Murphy, of course, serves as writer, director, and executive producer. Jon Robin Baitz, who worked on Feud: Capote Vs. The Swans also serves as a writer and executive producer alongside Joe Baken, Jamie Pachino, Lyn Greene, and Richard Levine.
