This Is A Story That Needs To Be Told
When just over one minute moves you to tears, you know that the entire movie will destroy you. Yet, if you’re like me, you want to see cinema that will move you. I want to see cinema that will change me.
Six Triple Eight seems like it will be one of those movies. A movie that changes me, educates me, destroys me, and gives me hope.
It’s a movie that I am looking forward to.
From Tyler Perry, the WWII drama, is set to premiere this December. It will be in select theaters on December 6th and then on the streaming service December 20th.

The movie is based on Kevin M. Hymel’s article “Fighting A Two-Front War,” which was published in the WWII History Magazine by Sovereign Media.
What Is The Story Of The Six Triple Eight?
Six Triple Eight tells the inspiring true story of, “the incredible and brave women of the only all-black, all-female World War 2 Battalion. These 855 women joined the war effort with little knowledge of what exactly they would be doing, but were quickly given the mission of a lifetime: sort through and fix the three-year backlog of undelivered mail. A herculean task, that most thought to be impossible, the women not only succeeded but did it in half the time they were given. Facing discrimination, unfamiliar land, and a war-torn country, they persevered and sorted over 17 million pieces of mail, reconnecting American soldiers with their families and loved ones back home. The motto that kept them going each day was one they created themselves: “No Mail, Low Morale.” The women of the 6888 weren’t just delivering mail, they were delivering hope.”
Who Is In The Movie?
Kerry Washington leads the cast as Major Charity Adams, the commanding officer of the 6888th Central Postal Directory Battalion. Each of the battalions 855 women wanted to serve their country and they did, honorably. The women worked hard to make sure that they kept morale as high as possible.
These women were heroes.
Director Tyler Perry told People.com, “These women were incredibly important to the war efforts toward the winding down of the war. … It’s important that these types of stories have their voice and their place, because so many of us are trying to erase and write out the history of the contributions of certain people.”
Their story deserves to be told. Theirs is one that should never be erased. The women of the 6888 are patriots and an important part of Americas history.
Six Triple Eight stars Kerry Washington, Ebony Obsidian, Milauna Jackson, Kylie Jefferson, Shanice Shantay, Sarah Jeffery, Pepi Sonuga, Jeanté Godlock, Moriah Brown, Dean Norris, and Scott Daniel Johnson. Gregg Sulkin, Susan Sarandon, Sam Waterston and Oprah Winfrey can also be seen in the movie.
I will be seeing the movie in theaters and watching it on Netflix. Will you?
