Here we go again, we’re having to have this discussion about keeping ones mouth shut and NOT commenting on peoples weight and bodies. We would have thought that everyone learned to not do this. This is one time that we’ll tell ourselves that apparently we’re delulu for thinking that some people will learn to be better people. However, if you aren’t an online troll our frustration is not with you.
If you are an online troll – well, please try and do better. Peoples bodies are not your business.
Actress Florence Pugh spoke about the comments on her body in a recent interview with British Vogue. The actress commented about when people talk about her body. She said, “it’s so hard.”
This is something that we can definitely understand.
The actress went on to say that, “It’s really painful to read people being nasty about my confidence or nasty about my weight. It never feels good. The one thing I always wanted to achieve was to never sell someone else, something that isn’t the real me.”
Words hurt people. Do better. Be better.
When the interviewer asked if she’d always been body confident, Pugh replied by saying, “I don’t think it’s confidence in hoping people like me. I think it’s just, like, I don’t want to be anyone else.”
We wouldn’t want her to be anyone else. Florence Pugh is an icon in her own right and we respect her as such.
