The Beauty and the Grumpy in High Potential Season 1, Episode 2 ‘Dancers in the Dark’

High Potential Season 1 Episode 2 ‘Dancers in the Dark’ has us glued to the Karadec and Morgan ship…and it’s only the second episode! After what happened in High Potential Episode 1, they really started working together and adapting to each other. Morgan does her best to follow the rules and get Karadec the evidence he so desperately needs.
For his part, Karadec strives to keep up with Morgan and to let her know when he needs her to share her findings or what she’s thinking. Of course, there are still barbs and jokes between them, some more acidic than others, and Karadec makes it clear that he doesn’t really like the consultant thing but, when push comes to shove, Karadec is the first to stand by Morgan and support her. He trusts her.
In High Potential ‘Dancers in the Dark’ Karadec accompanies Morgan in the middle of the night just because she has a hunch and calls him, he also trusts her enough to leave her alone with two suspects and, above all, he supports her when she has a hunch that connects the two big cases the department is handling and Melon is being obtuse.
So Karadec may have reluctantly accepted Morgan and she’s in over his head sometimes, but she’s his partner now and he’s going to be there for her no matter what. In the midst of all this, we realize that Morgan and Karadec are more alike than they think. And we love it!
But in High Potential Season 1 Episode 2 ‘Dancers in the Dark,’ Karadec is not only there for Morgan in the professional aspect, but in something much more personal. When the case gets murky and Morgan faces the ugliest part of police work, she can’t just accept it, she needs someone there, just to support her if she needs it.
Roland’s death affects her because he is a child, almost Ava’s age and she feels guilty for not having arrived sooner, for not having found out the truth sooner. She can’t stop thinking about what would have happened if…And, while Morgan can’t stop thinking about it, Karadec is at her side at all times, making sure that she is okay and letting her know that she can count on him if she needs him.
When they finally solve the case, Morgan’s first case, that congratulations from Karadec lifts our hearts almost as much as seeing them together in the hospital and seeing Morgan smile again. This case was hard but in the end, it was worth it. And with that, that spark that ignited between them at their first meeting grows a little bit more, little by little… until it ends up exploding, and we can’t wait for that!
The Past Always Comes Back

The situation at home is no less emotional for Morgan in High Potential Season 1 Episode 2 ‘Dancers in the Dark.’ She remains certain that Roman, Ava’s father, didn’t abandon them. Something bad must have happened to him. Morgan is convinced and, therefore, every time she talks about him or remembers him, she has in her eyes and in her gestures that nostalgia and sadness that only someone who is still grieving can have.
Roman is missing or dead, but the lack of answers means that Morgan has not been able to close that chapter of her life, which is why she has never stopped grieving since Roman disappeared from her and Ava’s lives. That grief, that pain, worsens when she realizes that Ava doesn’t believe her.
She is convinced that her father abandoned them and as much as Morgan tries to make her see that this is not a possibility, Ava doesn’t believe her, on the contrary, she closes herself off more and more because she doesn’t understand how her mother, someone so brilliant, cannot accept that he simply left, vanished, of his own free will. Ava finds this sick and almost feels sorry for Morgan.
And we understand her because we are inclined to think the same as Ava.
However, everything takes a turn at the end of High Potential Season 1 Episode 2 ‘Dancers in the Dark’ when Selena brings Morgan the first real clue in years. It’s barely a hint but it’s the beginning of something that raises many questions and that points to Morgan being right all along: something bad happened to Roman.
Morgan can hardly believe that she finally has something real and tangible to support her theory and that someone believes her, really believes her when it comes to Roman. Morgan has always faced skeptical looks at best — and pity at worst — whenever she claimed that Roman hadn’t abandoned her, and now someone is there, telling her that they believe her and that they’re finally going to find the truth.
For her part, Ava listens to everything and feels confused and guilty. She can’t believe that there’s actually something that points to her father not abandoning them, but at the same time, she can’t let go of what she’s thought all her life. But if there’s one thing she’s clear about, it’s that she judged her mother harshly and feels guilty about it. The conversation between the two about this is going to be very interesting and we can’t wait to see it!
