According to Variety, the woman who was part of our childhoods thanks to her starring role in The Nanny and current SAG-AFTRA president Fran Drescher has joined the cast of Josh Safdie’s table tennis movie titled Marty Supreme. Ready to know all the details?
Here we go!
Drescher will play the mother of Timothée Chalamet’s character. Alongside the two, the film stars Gwyneth Paltrow — who returns to our screens since we last saw her in 2019’s Avengers: Endgame — Tyler, the Creator, Odessa A’zion, magician Penn Jillette, investor and personality Kevin O’Leary and filmmaker Abel Ferrara.
Marty Supreme will follow the story of Chalamet’s character as a young ping-pong professional. Plot details are scarce and remain under the strictest secrecy, but as the film approaches, and begins to raise expectations. A24, the studio, is promoting the film as a “fictional work set in the world of 1950s ping pong culture.”
Drescher, known for her distinctive nasal voice and perfect comic timing, is returning to the big screen after starring in TV sitcoms and spending more time behind the camera in recent years. Meanwhile, Chalamet, who has won over audiences with dramatic roles in films such as Dune, will hopefully get the chance to explore his lighter, more comedic side in this new project.
We can’t wait to know more!
Marty Supreme is set to hit theaters soon.
