A Man on the Inside, follows a retired man, Charles (Danson), who gets a new lease on life when he answers an ad placed by a private investigator and becomes a mole in a secret investigation of the Pacific View Retirement Residence in San Francisco. Joining him is a pedigree list of stars, including Schur veteran Stephanie Beatriz from Brooklyn Nine-Nine, Chicago Med’s Lilah Richcreek Estrada, and It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia‘s Mary Elizabeth Ellis.
Charles is a widower, eager to shake up his routine, who answers an ad from a private detective to solve a mysterious theft. Posing as a new resident, he goes deep undercover at a senior living community, building heartwarming new friendships and a stronger bond with his daughter along the way. And the official trailer makes it clear that this show is more heartfelt than expected.
In the official trailer we see Charles quickly come to realize that this senior living community isn’t a place for seniors to come and die. These people are still living, laughing, and even lusting after Pedro Pascal. And just because society has forgotten them, doesn’t mean that they have forgotten themselves. That’s what makes A Man on the Inside so special. It shows seniors as human beings first, suspects second, and possible jewelry thieves last. And we can’t wait to watch.
A Man on the Inside is based on the documentary The Mole Agent, a 2021 Oscar® nominee for Best Documentary feature.
