Some fandoms find you and hold onto you. For us, that’s been One Tree Hill. We have said it time and time again, we’ll follow the stars of One Tree Hill anywhere. It doesn’t matter what season they joined, we will appreciate and support their careers. So it’s no surprise (to us at least) that we’re about to talk about Robert Buckley and we’re ranking the top seven roles (according to us) that he’s taken on.
But hey, we’re never going to be able to not talk about One Tree Hill and Chesapeake Shores. They’re fandom-iconic, just like Buckley.

#7 – AMERICAN HEIRESS
We know that most people have never heard of American Heiress and well, you’re probably asking yourself what is it. It’s a show from way back in 2007 that is so bad that it’s actually good to hate-watch (sorry, not sorry). Because it is so bad. It was a hate-watch. A desire to understand how this was made.
However Buckley – who played Matthew Wakefield – this was our first exposure to him and we fell in love. He kept us watching and sad when it was canceled, but we adored him.

#6 – THE CHRISTMAS HOUSE
We do love Countdown to Christmas and there was something special about The Christmas House. The movie starred Buckley and Jonathan Bennett and we loved them together. The two had an on-screen chemistry that they were able to make you laugh, cry, and just really root for them (even though they were playing brothers).
The arguments that the brothers have – their want to outdo each other, but the way that they come together – we love that. Buckley shines (as does Bennett) in this movie and we love it.

#5 – ‘TWAS THE DATE BEFORE CHRISTMAS
Now, you know that we love a Christmas movie and we absolutely loved this one. Buckley plays Bryan – a rich guy who answers a woman on a dating app. Her one thing was that whomever she chose had to go to her parent’s home on Christmas Eve. You see, they were going to cancel Christmas festivities, but Jessie had told her parents she was dating someone new.
Buckley goes along with the plan and somehow you see this character of Bryan and you just fall in love. He’s this rich guy who could be a douche, but instead, through every twist and turn, you’re seeing a good man that just wants to make a difference. There are so many misconceptions about Bryan, but in the end, he proves the kind of man he is.
You can’t watch and not wish that you could find a Bryan on the dating app you are inevitably on.

#4 – iZOMBIE
We will always be bitter about the end of The CW as we know it and what it has become. We don’t recognize it and people should be upset for themselves that they don’t get to experience the greatness of The CW – like a show like iZombie.
Buckley starred in 71 episodes of the hit show, playing Major Lilywhite. He’s Liv’s (Rose McIver) ex-fiance. She breaks up with him so he doesn’t learn she’s a zombie, but it’s definitely more complex than that. It never mattered if he was a zombie or human – you just couldn’t help but love him.

#3 – BLIND DATE BOOK CLUB
There is something about an Erin Krakow movie that will always have a chokehold on us. She’s great and we love her. She and Buckley starred in Blind Date Book Club and we loved every moment of it. She’s a bookstore owner trying to keep the bookstore alive.
Buckley plays an author, who wants to change genres but the book that he’s written – his agent doesn’t think it’s great. So he decides that he needs to get it in this store.
There’s something about Buckley in this movie where you just enjoy his vulnerability, and it overshadows the cockiness of his character. He gets humbled by Krakow’s character and he takes it so well. We can’t help but love the Graham Sterling (Buckley). Buckley’s portrayal is a mix of who he is and who he wants to be – this is what ties that character up into a bow for us.

#2 – CHESAPEAKE SHORES
We only got 18 episodes of Chesapeake Shores and that kinda feels like we deserved more. We understand that the show had run its course, but hey, we’re allowed to be somewhat bitter we didn’t get more.
Buckley played Evan Kincaid – a rich man with a lot of confidence. He was charming and sweet, but a little annoying because he spoke so much about money (at least it felt like that). However as we got to know Evan, he was just misunderstood and wanted to make an impression.
And we loved that about him. It was a great role for him and it was a role we enjoyed watching him in.

#1 – ONE TREE HILL
We kinda feel bad for the cast of One Tree Hill, because it doesn’t matter what they do – we’ll always place One Tree Hill as the best thing. It defined part of our lives. It changed us. It made us see things differently.
Clay was a character that we, at times, had a hard time understanding, but it was one we always loved. Some of the storylines were outrageous, the characters were unlikeable, and there was so much drama. But there was something about One Tree Hill that made the viewer not care that the storylines were insane. It was the cast – the cast that felt like they cared about us all as fans and wanted the viewers to know that One Tree Hill would always be home.
Now that we’ve told you our favorite Robert Buckley roles, what are yours? Let us know!
