We’re back! High Potential Season 1 Episode 8 ‘Obsessed’ returns after the holidays with a transition episode that lays some important foundations for Morgan and Karadec’s future and shows why they are meant for each other. Ready?
Here we go!
Impossible Loves and Blue Flowers

The case of the week hits close to home for Morgan in High Potential Season 1 Episode 8 ‘Obsessed.’ A cold case, with no clues, of a murder from 2 years ago… that immediately reminds her of the Roman case. No one got her answers at the time and somehow, she ended up accepting it and moving on because she had no other choice. But now she sees that her daughter Ava is resenting her father’s absence and suffering because of it and Morgan can’t stand that.
However, what we liked most about High Potential Season 1 Episode 8 ‘Obsessed’ were Morgan and Karadec. They stole the episode! Morgan skips her date with Tom to go to Karadec’s house because she knows him well enough to know that he’ll be just as obsessed with the case as she is until they solve it, so they have what amounts to their first date, even though neither of them realizes it.
Later, when Morgan is reflecting on her difficulty having a romantic life amid the madness of her work and family life, we definitely see a flash of jealousy in Karadec as he asks Morgan if she really wants things to move forward with Tom. And this question is key. Because if you really want something to happen, no matter how chaotic your life is, you make it happen, you make room for it in your life, and Morgan seemed to be finding excuses not to.
At that moment in High Potential Season 1 Episode 8 ‘Obsessed,’ Morgan convinces herself that she does want things to move forward with Tom, but she doesn’t realize that, although she is ready to have something more with someone, that person is not Tom, simply because he doesn’t fit into the chaos of her life. Morgan doesn’t need someone who adapts to her chaos, but someone who shares it and who controls it when he has to do so and that is Karadec.
That being the case, we also learn a little more about Karadec’s past when we discover his truncated history with Lucia. It’s difficult for someone like Karadec, who cannot leave a case until he solves it, to have a personal life outside of it because that person would always end up being the second option, not the priority. That is why Karadec needs someone who shares his obsession, with whom he can study a case until they solve it and that person not only understands his chaos but shares it, and that is Morgan.
So yeah, if High Potential Season 1 Episode 8 ‘Obsessed’ makes anything clear, Morgan and Karadec are made for each other and fit together like no other.
