It’s a new year, and there is a new slate of sports entertainment to enjoy. Netflix still holds the spot as the streamer producing the most content. The streamer even has a scripted comedy show premiering this month. Other streaming services are starting to release more and more sports entertainment. For example. Wednesday, February 12: Harlem Ice
A new five-part documentary series about the coach and girls of Figure Skating in Harlem is premiering on Wednesday, February 12. Directed by Samantha Knowles, Harlem Ice focuses on a season of competitions and performances. “Through their eyes, we experience the highs and lows of the FSH Season, and the unique experiences they have as girls of color breaking the ice ceiling and gaining access to a global stage,” per the docuseries’s description.
Harlem Ice will follow “sisters Tori and Ashley, newbie Adrianna and senior Ariyana, and see how each girl makes her mark and helps to put Harlem Ice on the map.” The Harlem Ice trailer ends with a quote that hones in on FSH’s importance: “When we skate on the ice, we make a statement. We are girls of color, and we’re powerful.” Image Entertainment produces the docuseries. Executive producers include Sara Bernstein, Geeta Gandbhir, Brian Grazer, Ron Howard, Meredith Kaulfers, Robin Roberts, and Justin Wilkes

Tuesday, February 18: Court of Gold
Have you ever wanted an exclusive, behind-the-scenes look at top medal contenders in men’s basketball at the Olympic Games Paris 2024? The documentary series Court of Gold offers that for Team USA, France, Serbia, and Canada. Directed by Jake Rogal, the docuseries features interviews with Kevin Durant (Team USA/Phoenix Suns power forward), Steph Curry (Team USA/Golden State Warriors point guard), Steve Kerr (Team USA/Golden State Warriors head coach), Victor Wembanyama (Team France/San Antonio Spurs center), Rudy Gobert (Team France/Minnesota Timberwolves center), Bogdan Bogdanović (Team Serbia/Atlanta Hawks shooting guard), Shai Gilgeous-Alexander (Team Canada/Oklahoma City Thunder point guard), RJ Barrett (Team Canada/Toronto Raptors shooting guard), USAB legend and former Miami Heat shooting guard Dwyane Wade, French-American former San Antonio Spurs point guard Tony Parker, Canadian basketball coach Steve Nash, former NBA and Team USA small forward/power forward Carmelo Anthony, and more.
Court of Gold documents how “international basketball has caught up to the U.S. and the competition and stakes are higher than ever,” per its logline. “It’s captured the imagination of the world,” executive producer Barack Obama says in the trailer. Olympic Channel, Higher Ground Productions, and Words + Pictures Production produce the docuseries. More executive producers include Michelle Obama, Connor Schell, Jason Hehir, Yiannis Exarchos, JT Taylor, Jérôme Parmentier, David Herren, Ethan Lewis, Vinnie Malhotra, Aaron Cohen, Alexa Conway, Mary Byrne, and Kostas Karvelas.

Friday, February 22: Onside: Major League Soccer
Apple TV+ is taking soccer fans “beyond the pitch” of the MLS with its new docuseries Onside: Major League Soccer. The trailer starts with one of the most recognizable voices in the sport: David Beckham, a former professional football player and the co-owner and president of Inter Miami. The club’s #10 doesn’t need to say a word for his iconic presence to be felt in the Onside: Major League Soccer trailer.
The footage includes New England Revolution’s center-back Tim Parker, who discusses missing time with family. It also features Philadelphia Union’s (now) 15-year-old midfielder, Cavan Sullivan, and his parents, LA Galaxy midfielder Riqui Puig, Columbus Crew’s head coach Wilfried Nancy, the New York City FC forward Malachi Jones, and LA Galaxy head coach Greg Varney. Onside: Major League Soccer promises to provide “unprecedented access to players, coaches, and clubs” and explore “the electrifying moments and captivating stories that make the 2024 season unforgettable.
Onside: Major League Soccer premieres on Friday, February 22, on Apple TV+.

Thursday, February 27: Running Point
Mindy Kaling, Ike Barinholtz, and David Stassen have teamed up to deliver the latest sports comedy series, Running Point. Kate Hudson stars as the lead, Isla Gordon, a woman who becomes the president of the Los Angeles Wave after her brother resigns. The 10-episode debut season follows Isla as she proves she’s the right woman for the job.
Alongside Hudson, Running Point stars Brenda Song, Drew Tarver, Scott MacArthur, Fabrizio Guido, Toby Sandeman, Chet Hanks, Jay Ellis, Max Greenfield, Keyla Monterroso Mejia, Roberto Sanchez, Uche Agada, and Dane DiLiegro. Kaling writes and executive produces the series with Barinholtz and showrunner Stassen. Hudson, Howard Klein (3 Arts Entertainment), Jeanie Buss, and Linda Rambis executive produce, with Jordan Rambis producing. Kaling International produces the show in association with Warner Bros. Television.
Running Point Season 1 premieres on Netflix on Thursday, February 27.
