Netflix is revealing some news about what is coming! This time, it has releases the official trailer, key art, and first look images of its long-awaited miniseries Toxic Town, a drama based on real events that promises to shake consciences. Ready?
Here we go!
Toxic Town is inspired by the Corby environmental scandal, one of the most shocking cases of industrial negligence in the United Kingdom. The plot follows the struggle of three mothers who, after the birth of their children with congenital deformities, confront local authorities in search of justice. These malformations are linked to exposure to toxic waste derived from the poor cleaning of an old steelworks in the region.
The series stars Jodie Whittaker, internationally recognized for her role as the Thirteenth Doctor in Doctor Who and for being the first woman to lead the legendary series. She returns to the small screen with a character that gives us chills in the best possible way.
Jodie Whittaker plays Susan McIntyre, one of the mothers leading this legal and personal battle against a system that tries to silence the truth. And, if the trailer is any indication, her performance promises to be one to remember, straddling vulnerability and fierce determination in a role that could mark a career-making milestone after her stint on Doctor Who.

In addition to Whittaker, the cast includes Aimee Lou Wood, Rory Kinnear, Robert Carlyle, Brendan Coyle, Claudia Jessie — who we know best from Bridgerton—, Joe Dempsie, Ben Batt, Stephen McMillan, Lauren Lyle —our Marsali in Outlander! —, Michael Socha, Karla Crome, Matthew Durkan, Kobi Sadler, and Toby Eden.
Toxic Town trailer, accompanied by Gloria Gaynor’s iconic song “I Will Survive,” offers a glimpse into the intense legal and emotional battle the protagonists face, highlighting the resilience and determination of a united community in search of justice. It’s a David versus Goliath fight and that’s proven in every second of the trailer but, beyond that, it’s a story about the power of community, the fight for truth, and the need for justice.
Toxic Town is coming to Netflix on February 27.
