You know that we love a procedural. We love a medical drama. We never thought that we’d be sitting here looking forward to a medical drama on Netflix, but Pulse has got our attention. A large part of that is because of the on screen chemistry between Willa Fitzgerald and Colin Woodell that is apparent in the newly released trailer.
The premise of Pulse is great. It’s part medical drama and part romance. The official synopsis says, “As a hurricane barrels towards Miami’s busiest Level 1 Trauma Center, third-year resident Dr. Danny Simms (Willa Fitzgerald) is unexpectedly thrust into a promotion when beloved Chief Resident Dr. Xander Phillips (Colin Woodell) is suspended. Amid the worsening storm and an onslaught of trauma cases, the hospital goes into lockdown, and Danny and Phillips must find a way to work together – even as the bombshell details of a complicated and illicit romance between them begin to spill out.”
It then continues, “The rest of the ER is left to process the fallout of their relationship while balancing their own challenges, both personal and professional, as they work under the pressure of life-or-death stakes. Because for this tight-knit group of doctors, saving their patients’ lives is often less complicated than living their own.”
Watch the intense trailer for Pulse –
You can not convince us that there isn’t a lot of chemistry between Dr. Danny Simms (Willa Fitzgerald) and Chief Resident Dr. Xander Phillips (Colin Woodell). We are big believers in how important casting is for any show and chemistry between the characters is what will draw you in. We have a feeling we’re going to ship them hard.

In addition to Fitzgerald and Woodell, Pulse stars, Justina Machado, Jack Bannon, Jessie T. Usher, Jessy Yates, Chelsea Muirhead and Daniela Nieves. Pulse also stars Néstor Carbonell, Jessica Rothe, Santiago Segura, Ash Santos and Arturo Del Puerto.
The show will premiere on Netflix on April 3rd, 2025.
