If you’re looking for a television show that will change the way that you think about the earth and inspire your want to travel and see more of the world around you, we suggest The Americas. Narrated by Tom Hanks, the 10 part series, took over five years and took over 180 expeditions to film. It has been informative and captivating.
The series has definitely been an education for us. There are so many eye opening moments in the series, but the biggest thing for us has been the realization that we really don’t know a lot about the animals and ecosystems that surround us.
The series is like nothing that we have ever seen. While we have learned about wildlife on other continents, we may not have learned so much about the wildlife that surrounds us on this continent.
The official logline says, “unprecedented scale and ambition delivers remarkable world firsts; new species, new intimate courtship, dramatic deep-sea hunting and some of nature’s strangest stories – even a frog that seems to defy death every day. Each hourlong episode features a different iconic location across the Americas.”
We’re proud to bring you an exclusive clip from this weeks episode. We leaned about Lemon Shark Pups and their socialization.
We’d never even heard of Lemon Sharks. Lemon Sharks are known for their “yellowish color.” They are “classified as a Vulnerable species by the International Union for the Conservation of Nature.”
The clip made us feel like – in a way – other species are just like us. Lemon Sharks learn from their friends. Socialization is a big part of their journey and learning to survive. They practice how to catch fish and it’s working together that helps them hone their survival skills.
Practice makes perfect.
