When you are going through something, a lot of us think that we need to go through it alone. It’s normal, and in this writers opinion it’s because for so long we didn’t talk about mental health. It was taboo. So yes, we appreciate a celebrity opening up about their mental health.
Joe Jonas as on the Talkshop Live Podcast and opened up about his own mental health and seeking therapy in a dark time in jos life.
“It’s been something that I realized I did need. Somebody was like, have you ever just thought about talking to somebody? And I was like, ‘Me? I’m great. Why would I need to speak to a professional? I’m like, I talk to my friends about this. What are you talking about? I go to the gym and sweat it out. I’m fine.’ So yeah, I have a therapist. I love it,” the singer/actor said.
Talking about community, Jonas continued by saying, “And I think it’s also just like, especially this month, it’s so important to speak to friends. I was reading, recently, statistics on the amount of men that are suicidal that don’t speak to people, and it’s so sad and as simple as it is just being there for somebody and having a conversation and reaching out. I think it’s so easy to just be like, ‘They’re probably fine.’ When really it’s like, just send a text, call, go drive five more minutes or take that flight to visit them. It’s so important.”
We can’t dispute that community is very important. Taking care of all of the things that are going on in your mind is something that is very important.
What do you think of therapy? How do you take care of your mental health.
