Look, in Hollywood, we aren’t really surprised to see celebrities getting divorced anymore. We aren’t. It’s a thing that happens. Love isn’t a thing in Hollywood, that’s just the way it is. Don’t put all your trust into any celebrity relationship, okay?
That being said, Joe Jonas and Sophie Turner looked pretty solid. Hearing about their divorce was surprising. And seeing how the narrative has pretty quickly turned on Turner has been, well …enlightening, to say the least. Especially considering how much all the stuff coming out about Turner feels like PR-speak.
First, there was the “oh, Joe has been taking care of the kids for the last feel months,” which I guess was supposed to make us think Turner was a bad mother or something. Or maybe we were supposed to give Joe a medal for being a dad? Hard no.
Then came the “she likes to party, he doesn’t” narrative, which …eh, she’s a 27-year-old woman who spent the last few years having babies/taking care of them. What’s wrong with wanting to party? And, also …this kinda feels like something Joe would already know about her, so we’re not buying this one either.
After that came the whole “he tried to salvage the marriage, this was the last resort,” which is pretty standard “he’s the good guy in this!” PR speak. And all of this has come out in like, the last day. Methinks Joe Jonas’ PR team is just trying too hard at this point.
And they didn’t even stop there!
Bringing the kids into it is a now low, though:
Truly, too hard. No one’s buying it.
Sophie, meanwhile? She was silent at first (MORAL HIGH GROUND BABYYY). Then there was the JOINT statement asking for privacy.
But now, it seems like we’re closer to the real story. And it was pretty much what we expected considering Joe’s PR team spent DAYS trying to pain Sophie as a bad mother.
I mean, we’re not saying there’s a Taylor Swift song for this, but …there is a Taylor Swift song for this.
Hello, Mr. “Perfectly fine”
How’s your heart after breaking mine?
Mr. “Always at the right place at the right time, ” baby
Hello, Mr. “Casually cruel”
Mr. “Everything revolves around you”
I’ve been Ms. “Misery” since your goodbye
And you’re Mr. “Perfectly fine”
What kind of gutter trash website is this?
That’s not the insult you think it is. But A for effort.
