When Netflix’s Ginny & Georgia first premiered, it gave us more than just drama, murder, and mother-daughter dynamics. It gave us the cozy, picturesque charm of a New England town called Wellsbury, Massachusetts.
But if you’ve tried to find Wellsbury on a map, you’ll quickly realize it doesn’t exist. That’s because the fictional town isn’t in Massachusetts at all. Or at least, it’s not in real life.
It’s actually brought to life over 500 miles away. In Canada!
Yes, that classic red-brick New England aesthetic with tree-lined streets, small-town diners, and a town hall that looks lifted from a postcard is the magic of Cobourg, Ontario. Filming for Ginny & Georgia takes place primarily in this charming lakeside town, with key interior scenes shot at TriBro Studios in Toronto.
Most of the outdoor scenes you see in the show are shot in Cobourg. It’s a little town in Canada, spotted with Victorian buildings, perfect for Wellsbury.
Wellsbury, Massachusetts, Isn’t Real, But Cobourg, Ontari,o Is
Though Ginny & Georgia makes it seem like Wellsbury is a charming little place in Massachusetts, it’s actually not a real town. It might’ve gotten its name from real places like Wellesley and West Newbury.
But the actual streets you’re seeing in Ginny & Georgia are from Cobourg, which is right beside Lake Ontario.

If you’re a fan of Ginny & Georgia, you’ll notice spots from the first two seasons that ARE real, like Victoria Hall, aka the town hall in Wellsbury, which is where events like the party for the mayor’s election go down.
And then there’s King Street, where there’s a real-life store called Audrey’s In Town Fashion. They kept the name in the show Ginny & Georgia, so you might feel like you’re actually walking around Wellsbury if you ever head to where the show was filmed.
The iconic Blue Farm Cafe? That’s actually The EL, a gastropub offering sriracha shrimp and truffle fries. And it’s a must-visit for any fan.
How Does Cobourg Transform for the Camera?

Have you wondered how they make Canada look like Massachusetts in the show? It’s all about the details! The set decorators switch out signs to make everything seem more American, and they even go as far as bringing in bags of autumn leaves to scatter around. And don’t forget the American flags!
Peerspace reports that they tweaked the storefronts and used Victoria Hall, which is gorgeous, especially for all those Halloween scenes.
And the grand finale of Ginny & Georgia Season 1, where Georgia has her fireworks moment to celebrate starting over? That was shot at the Victoria Park Bandshell. This place has some history, too. It was built back in 1934 by locals who were out of work during the Depression.
Ginny & Georgia Season 3 drops us right back into the mysteries of Wellsbury after a shocking event: Georgia’s arrest in the Season 2 finale. Yet it’s the allure of Cobourg that keeps the rollercoaster feeling relatable. Despite moving from Texas, the Miller family didn’t just end up in Massachusetts; they found themselves in a quaint, lesser-known treasure of Ontario, Canada.
Ginny & Georgia Season 3 premieres on Netflix on June 5, 2025.
